Fox Sports Radio

I've been told WHBC-AM dropped Fox Sports Radio in favor of Sporting news radio.

I noticed this a few days ago and wondered what was going on. The question is, what difference does it make for evenings?

Good move. Not just because of the redundancy from WARF/1350 in Akron - to an extent - but also because Fox Sports Radio's show clock is not at all compatible for a news/talk station. (WHBC has time-shifted the first hourly segment by two minutes and thirty seconds, in order to squeeze in an actual news and weather update.)

Better news is that the beyond-irritating Petros Papadakis has one less station to scream on... ::)

As much as I like how WHBC-AM has stayed true to its local identity in Mornings and afternoons at least, except for those shows and Play-by-play sports, I havent listened enough to WHBC recently to notice they made a change..

I like sports as much as the next guy, but the topic seems to take over the station's shows from afternoon drive until the cows come home. If it weren't for the Indians, Cavaliers, etc, there'd be some room for a locally-based evening talk show. That would be a nice change of pace.

Heck, maybe NextMedia could buy 900 and make that station an all-sports flanker to WHBC. It'll probably never happen, but what would they realistically have to lose?
