In Raleigh (Capitol Broadcasting), Columbus (Sinclair), and Jacksonville (Clear Channel), the station that produces the news for the Fox affiliate is part of a duopoly with the Fox station.

Another market where the Fox affiliate has their news produced by a station owned by another company: Columbus, GA (WTVM-ABC [9] produces the newscast for WXTX [54]).

In Maine, Portland's WPFO Fox 23 just started a newcast from Sinclair's WGME, the CBS station and in Bangor, Maine WFVX Channel 22 carried a newscast from co-owned WVII, ABC Channel 7 (Presque Isle's only commercial station WAGM, a CBS station, carries Fox on it's digital station and produces news on it as well

WCHS/8 & WVAH/11 in Charleston/Huntington, WV
WNYF/28 & WWNY/7 in Watertown, NY

KKFX/24 & KCOY/12 in Santa Barbara/Santa Maria, CA

Of the list, several are jointly owned stations (these are one's I know of, others on the list may be also...)
WRAZ/WRAL
WTTE/WSYX
WRGT/WSYX
WNAC/WPRI
KASA/KRQE
WAWS/WTEV

Others are stations that are co-owned, but the sourcing station is actually in a different market...
KMSB/KTVK (KVOA only provides footage and the occasional reporter)
KRXI/KTVU (Cox-owned KRXI simulcasts KTVU's newscasts)
KZTV/KGAN (Sinclair-owned KGAN does the newscast for KZTV)

In addition to the original list...
KFQX/4 in Grand Junction, CO rebroadcasts KDVR/31 in Denver

At one point, portions of WHNS Greenville/Spartenburg's news was produced by Meredith sister WGCL Atlanta.

KFXK/51 in Longview, TX had a 9pm newscast for a short while done by Tyler's KETK/56 (part of LMA agreement) but it was only on a few short months. That was Ch. 51's **4th** attempt at a newscast; the other 3 were when it was a CBS affiliate, and in/out of bankruptcy. A weak signal and limited news coverage didn't help the situation.

The news portion of Newschannel at 9 is produced by WICS/20. However, WRSP and WCCU split their simulcast for weather and sports. WRSP's weather and sports are produced by WICS and WCCU (WRSP's Champaign/Urbana repeater) gets their's from WICS' Champaign/Urbana repeater, WICD/15.

WICS and WICD simulcast at all times except for newscasts, local commercials, and news break-ins.

I've heard FOX is considering having its larger stations produce regional newscasts for smaller FOX stations. This came from an off-hand comment by my news director, who was asking me about KTMJ in Topeka. I told him they stopped producing news a long time ago, and he said we (WDAF) might be asked to provide news for them.

WJKT 16 in Jackson, TN switched to Fox in the fall, and their 9 PM news is a simulcast of WLMT CW 30's news in Memphis, which is produced by WPTY ABC 24 in Memphis. (Can it get any more complicated?)

These stations are all owned by Clear Channel. This actually has gone on for several years when WJKT was WMTU in the 90's and both it and WLMT were on Fox and simulcast for the entire day. Both switched to UPN when it started in 1995 and still simulcast the entire day. Some time in the late 90's Clear Channel took over operation of both stations and started producing the news for the stations. In 2001 WMTU's call letters were changed to WJKT and programming went to being from Jackson rather than from Memphis, except for the 9 PM news, which is still simulcast from Memphis.

When UPN and WB merged to form the CW, WLMT went to CW and WJKT switched to Fox since CW went to the WB cable station in Jackson. Thankfully, they didn't pick up My Network TV. :p

I wonder why this is. Is KQFX 4 not owned by the same poeple who own KREX 5 ??

Me thinks so...

Also, let's not forget there's a number of CW and MyNetwork stations with newscasts as well. In fact, I think in a few places, even ION affiliates have news (Though not very many)

Cheers :D

Pat

KFQX used to repeat KREX's 10pm news at 11pm. Guides listed it as "Fox 4 News", but it was a "Newschannel 5 at 10" rebroadcast.

According to the on-line guides, they air a 30 minute newscast at 2am - I suspect it's just KREX's 10pm newscast again...

I'm pretty sure the simulcast of KDVR is to keep KDVR off of cable and local translators...

Jim

WUPW/Toledo's 10pm newscast was produced by WTOL from 1996 to 2000. Since going it alone, they've added a 4pm show and passed the NBC affiliate for 3rd in the market.

...and it looks like it, too -- 13 and 25/31 are each absolutely awful...

...anyone know if WMSN/47 Madison still outsources theirs to WKOW/27?...
