FOX to revive "IN LIVING COLOR"

It took me years to understand why Fox cancelled this show and after watching season 5 on Centric I know why. When your main cast leaves and new characters come in that are not funny its time to retire the series. The same with SNL but In Living Color didnt get a decent send off so Im glad Fox is doing it. So it looks like Keenan Ivory Wayans and Fox are finally at peace. Although I would perfer Mad TV to come back.

lightning does not always strike twice.i liked IN LIVING COLOR but it was a combination of the cast and the time it was on.

the original run of THE GONG SHOW was hysterical and the original episodes were great fun but the attemopt to bring it back was terrible.new people and diffrent times.and i just saw video clips of the new run.thats all i needed.it lacked the intangible quality the original version had.

i hope the new version of IN LIVING COLOR works good though.

I honestly don't know if this show should compete with Saturday night live, or instead, compete with NBC's Thursday night Comedy night instead.

Im sure they can. The writers and actors on SNL are horrible and their parody's are not funny at all. I havent laughed not at one episode. I watched the parody of MTV's Skin and it wasnt funny. There is enough material today for In Living Color to take on.

I'm glad to see an actual funny skit comedy show once again like In Living Color. SNL does suck and has basically become a launchpad for mediocre comics or wannabes with a side of the well-known face of the minute to pop up. I've yet to understand why In Living Color was pushed out or why MadTV went out either because both were actually funny and amusing to watch.

It's tough to do a decent parody. You have to mock it, yet at the same time you have to pay respect to the original. AND you have to make the sketch understandable and funny to those who never saw the original. Finally in the end the parody should not only leave you laughing but it should make you curious enough to want to see what the original was all about.

"The Carol Burnett Show" was a great one to do this. She mocked movies, but respected them. And after the laughs you wanted to see the original. And it was funny even if you never saw the original '

"The Edge" on FOX by Julie "The Homecoming Queen Has Got A Gun" Brown, was another show that did this. It's cast included Wayne Knight, Jennifer Aniston, and was co-created by Brown and David Mirkin (of "The Simpsons" showrunner, writer, producer)

I wish them all the best, but honestly, I don't see it making a huge impact. TV shows die for a reason, and it is even harder to recreate or revive an old show. Even game shows have had that problem. The party was over a number of years ago for In Living Color. It was a good run, but let it pass quietly.

Mad TV's parody stands out. Making fun of American Idol to Bravo's Queer Eye, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown and the Anna Nicole skits (RIP). Mad TV made fun of BET so many times with Reality Check and SNL only take on was a mock of 106 & Park with a cameo appearance from Queen Latifha and it still wasnt funny. Unfortunately all the good cast memebers left Mad TV and their replacements were mostly stand up comedians which we never heard of which led to its demise. Still better than SNL. Finally something to watch on Fox again thats funny they need a decent show.

In Living Color I remember that show it was funny back in 1991-1993 thats when Jim Carrey got his start and American Idol Judge Jennikfer Lopez got his start in showbiz. But I was more in focus on Keenan Ivory Wayans and David Alan Grier mainly because they were the funniest characters on that show but it faded over time.

The way I recall it, Keenan Ivory Wayans walked away from the show, complaining that Fox
was not allowing him sufficient creative freedom.

That statement always stunned me. They pushed the edge of virtually every envelope on that show.
Just what in the heck did he want to do which Fox objected to? ???

My Network showed some reruns a few years back. I actually enjoyed them. I didn't want to watch the show when it was first on.

They introduced this new dancer named Jennifer Lopez in one of those episodes. She was really good. And hot-looking. Who knew she could also sing and act?

I felt that way about "Sunset Boulevard". A local station (probaly the same one that did some "Carol" reruns in 2002) showed it one Sunday and it was great, but like "Zero Hour" which became "Airplane!" it needed to be mocked. Or at least that's how I felt having seen the parodies.

Still a mystery till this day but his absence and his brother's and sister departure plus Kelly Coffield leaving seal the shows fate. Wiki page mentions the show going into syndication around 94 or 95 I dont recall it airing on any local stations. Only channel I remeber airing it was FX

One of the other Fly Girls: Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba.

But if it wasn't for their live episode in 1992 (which was watched by about 25 million viewers), we would still be stuck with those crappy Super Bowl halftime Shows today!

I guess the 2010's are the new 1990's - first, Beavis & Butt-Head return, and now, this news...

In case you were pretending to be unfamiliar with her, I would suggest you be honest next time.

I thought she was just some hot looking chick who tooled around Bed-Sty in a Fiat. :D
