Fox using NFL music for baseball

I'm watching the National League Championship Series right now on Fox. They are using the "Fox NFL Sunday"/NFL game theme music for this baseball game. They've used it numerous times already so I can't imagine it's a mistake. What happened to the MLB on Fox theme?

Somebody hit the wrong button?

Several times?

The basic six notes (the main "theme," if you will) are the same between the two theme sets, but that's about the only similarity. Maybe they were trying to promote the NFL on FOX subliminally.

Yes, they usually use the second one you mentioned for the All-Star Game and the playoffs. But they definitely used the NFL theme as bumper music before and after every single commercial. Maybe it was a mix-up. I'll watch tonight to see if they fix it.

Maybe that is the theme for all FOX Sports broadcasts. Just like ABC uses similar themes for all of their News Shows.

They announced last week that all Fox Sports Programming including the NFL, NBA and NASCAR will now be using what was previously known as the Fox NFL theme. The new President of Fox Sports wanted to create a signature for the entire division.

I noticed watching highlights in the first segment of "The OT" yesterday that, instead of the uptempo background music that I would normally expect, Fox played the traditional "NFL on Fox" theme instead. They're really running it into the ground, aren't they?

Well, Kenny Albert kept saying during the Eagles/Falcons game that "right across the street" was where the Phillies and Giants would be playing later tonight. Because of the immediate proximity, the same production truck was most likely used for both games and probably still had the NFL bumper music cued in the sound board when the first pitch dropped. At least the graphics package was correct.

Maybe the Fox regional networks will continue to use the MLB on FOX theme for their broadcasts, if they want to do a unified "theme" for their properties - if Fox Sports uses the old NFL on FOX theme for all its national shows, then FSN should be able to use MLB on FOX for at least its baseball broadcasts. When you get used to identifying something with something, it's hard to switch.

NB: The Texas Rangers use the MLB on FOX theme at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington anytime a Rangers fielder makes a good-to-spectacular play.

TBS has a much better product then FOX with baseball hands down. TBS blows FOX out of the water. Just take a look at postseason coverage. Its to bad TBS doesn't have the World Series.

Eh. Ernie Johnson's not bad. Ron Darling is OK on analysis. John Smoltz shouldn't be allowed near a microphone. It is a nice change, though, from Joe (I'm Not My Daddy Jack) Buck and Tim Mc(Turkey)Carver.

Ernie's major problem is he calls a game like he's on radio. We can see it's a foul outside first, EJ, you don't have to tell us. Sometimes on TV, less is more. But PBP announcers can't resist the big call, so they make every call.

I just heard the theme its just awful. What is FOX getting cheap and has to use the same theme for NFL and MLB? This isn't something you would see ESPN do or anyone else.

But FOX goes and wastes money on a commerical for FOX News because of MSNBC's "Lean Forward" new commericals. Just stupid.

Um, have you ever actually done a television remote?
