Uh oh, looks like American Dad is getting the mid-season shaft. Nobody does well in that early time slot. Having Cleveland bat cleanup is a good opportunity for that show though. It has been getting a little better as the season has gone on - but still has a ways to go. Hopefully next year will be the year when Cleveland finds its own way. Remember that AD was gawd-awful in its first year too. It can take a while for these animated McFarlane shows to gel.

9:00-10:00 PM THE GOOD GUYS

Are they recycling the old Bob Denver-Herb Edelman series from the late 60's?
(or have we simply run out of titles?)

They're actually programming an American Idol program to be a half-hour length? I find that hard to believe. I guess it's true that people are starting to care less and less about Idol - either that, or they're probably preparing for Idol A.S. (After Simon) and they figure there won't be much interest to begin with...

This was long overdue. I cannot wait for it and Survivor to finally cease production. It won't happen tomorrow (or next year) but it will happen...

actually they are preparing the results show for a 30 min. format, which I believe it always
has been. The performance show the prior evening is set for 90 minutes.

No, different show altogether.

BTW here's another mid-season addition from Fox, pending a night and timeslot: Terra Nova

I realize that; however, in its heyday (we're referring to the show's "heyday" as if it were no longer on the air) the results show was scheduled for an hour, and included some of the most schlocky filler you can think of. Remember a few years ago when Seacrest "took" phone calls from viewers?

I have never figured out what the attraction (?) is with Simon (understanding, of course, he owns part of the Idol show). Nor the other 'jury' members for that matter. They provide nothing but delay and useless babble. From the outset Idol has moved way too slowly and in recent seasons the 'talent' has been inept (to be very generous).

As far as Survivor goes....it was the original genre game show and is still the best but nothing can last 20 seasons without going a bit stale. It will be up to the producers to see if they can tweak the game enough to provide some variety and surprises without changing the fundamental concept. Seems to me they have gotten pretty far away from the survival aspects of the original game and much more into the human interactions (read: soap opera) of the contestants. Survivor could also use some "speed up" as the first several weeks usually crawl along at a snails pace. It has had a good run but unfortunately spun off a host of deplorable "wanna be's".

And let's please not refer to these shows as 'reality' as they have absolutely nothing to do with real life.

What no til death? I was waiting to see who the "Sixth" Ally was going to be.

People are making WAAAAAY too much out of the half-hour Idol results show.
That used to be the norm. It allowed Fox to boost half hour situation comedies or other reality shows.
Fox hasn't had a decent sit com to promote in a while. I think it's been an hour for a few years now just because Fox didn't have a better option available.

This year the results show at an hour long has turned into a weekly concert featuring some of the biggest current names in pop music. It's been pretty good if you ask me.

I think the show will be fine without Simon IF they get someone equally blunt and honest to replace him.
I wouldn't mind seeing Neil Patrick Harris get the job. He was VERY good as a guest judge this year in the audtion phase of the show.

Amen, brother! That could be the most oxymoronic term ever.
