FOX's coverage of the 115th US Open golf tourney

I thought it was below par  which is surprising since the producer they brought in had done other golf tourneys....

Any other golf fans here watch?

There were a few different things. More prime time coverage than they would have received from the other broadcast nets. They really seemed to be sucking up to the PGA, with one of the execs sitting in the booth most of the time. Clearly the greens weren't very green, and that caused some players to be grumpy. It was interesting to have the player's highlights and score card on the screen as they interviewed the player after each round. That way they weren't dependent on their memory. But let's face it. Golf isn't ready for prime time. ABC has done it with other west coast opens, and it's really a daytime sport.

I just did not like the coverage, especially the camera shots (I can always turn down the volume on the awful announcers). Too many wide angle shots where you could not see what was going on. Poor attempts to follow the golf ball & they couldn't find it. Missing players making shots & apologizing for missing them. And other things that just annoyed me to no end.

The golf course was horrendous to look at. Other than that, I have no comments on the coverage, but the finish couldn't have been better for Fox. Having Tiger bow out before the cut may result in lower ratings though.
