Fran Drescher Gets Her Own Talk Show

I have a feeling that this is going to be successful for FOX.
She seems like the kind of person that would be a PERFECT candidate for a daytime syndicated show!

I can't think of a more grating personality than Drescher....unless it's the Joan Rivers of old.

Yet one more reason not to watch Fox.

FOX brought Wendy Williams back from the cancellation heap and thrusted it upon the nation like a drag queen with a secret. I see nothing different than force feeding Fran Drescher or Nancy Grace down our collective throats. Thankfully, I'm smart enough to exercise the right to click away or even off than watch that pablum.

If this goes over, can we be seeing a FOX late night talker with Bob Saget? :D

Thurst opon the nation? Force fed? Please. ::)

Relax, indeed. If, like this summer's trial, it goes poorly, that will be the end of it. Even if they do take it national, no one is force fed anything. Besides TVs having tuners that pick up other channels, they also have this gizmo called an off button. If enough people make use of that feature, it will quickly go away.

like Megan Mullally the audience will be expecting her to do the show in-character,
and when she does not it will bomb.

As much as I liked her two sitcoms, this is distressing news.
Someone actually gave her another show after "The Nanny"? And whose idea at CBS was it for "The Nanny" to have a six year run anyway? I know CBS was in the toilet for most of the '90s but seriously did Moonves know about this?

Anyway, here's why I posted: for those of you who read the linked article like myself, this line had me rolling:

Only lucky viewers in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Orlando will be able to watch Fran Drescher beginning November 26.

Lucky?!?! Whatever

"The Nanny" may not have been network TV's finest hour.....BUT......If you like put-down humor, then the eternal war of words between the butler and Fran Drescher's female competition is quite entertaining, to say nothing of the insanely over-the-top stereotypical portrayal of older Jewish women by actresses Renee Tayor and Ann Guilbert as Drescher's older relatives.

And then there's "living-cartoon" Drescher herself.....(insert annoying nasal laugh here) ;D

All but the latter two of the above markets were also treated to "The Kilborn File" this past summer (the other markets being Austin, Boston and Detroit).

It was wonderful TV. I missed a few episodes due to choir practice but syndiacted reruns made up for that ... and I haven't been a regular viewer of network news since.

So is this a slap in the face to Wnedy Williams? Wendy's show is entertaining and from watching I can tell she has a lot of celebrity viewers along with at home moms and gay men.

I didn't read that in anyone's response but, that said, I personally don't find Williams all that entertaining. In fact, she has her own bag of irritating persona just like Drescher. For starters she has a mouth like a #10 fruit can. I can't seem to get the volume low enough.

But that's what makes the world go round, right? Different strokes for different folks.

Nah that didn't sound like a slap. It sounded like you were enamored a bit.
Is there another Wendy Williams Show I haven't seen? ;D
