Francesa Throws Mad Dog Under The Bus?

Or a mistruth too good to keep to himself.

I wonder if Tebow is considering a slander lawsuit. I know he's got more important things to worry about, but this will be the only way Francesa's fibbing stops.

Speaking of Francesa's former on air partner, "Mad Dog" Russo, Monday's Daily News radio column mentions: " Russo’s three-year deal with SiriusXM is winding down and there are rumblings Sirius XM doesn’t want to renew him at the $6 million-dollar-man level where it first signed him."
That would indicate that there is a possibility he may soon be back on terrestrial radio, unless he is willing to take a pay cut from satellite radio.

He originally got a five-year deal worth $15 million when he first landed at Sirius in 2008.

Random thought: Suppose Lupica is just a placeholder on 1050 in anticipation for Russo's return to terrestrial radio? Can you say, "Mike vs. the Mad Dog"?

The big noise is over for about a month. No more Rex Ryan to kick around for awhile. Hockey needs Crosby healthy for star-power come playoff time. A-Rod and Santana have to heal more for added excitement. The Knicks sometimes play as if there are still guys on the roster who haven't been formally introduced yet.

The next Big Thing (at least the next scheduled one) is basketball. That's Lupica's main realm. He'll be picking up listeners as March approaches. There's no way WEPN can sensibly minimize Lupica for a while. (We get him on the NJ 1040 out this way.)

Meanwhile, the position-jockeying and inter-office strategies go on at CBS and ESPN. Once there's some commotion about ESPN acquiring 94.7 (or WBLS or 101.9), then the fun begins. All bets are off at that point. WFAN to 92.3 might be a start.

Lupica and Russo (is Mike & The Mad Dog copy-protected?) might be a bit much ; maybe an hour as a team would work ..... I'd like to see Bruce Jacobs, wherever he is now, do NYC sports-talk ..... Some station might decide to give Hot Talk another shot, only with Sports as the topic instead of just T&A ..... WEPN supposedly has younger overall numbers than WFAN and could make a bigger sploosh on FM .....

Quite a slow time is in store for New York sports at present. Something may give in the interim.

WFAN isn't going to devote significant airtime to hockey talk even if Crosby comes back and brings Orr and Gretzky with him.
