Francesa! Whitman on CNN! WFAN/Wikipedia!

If my memory is correct, back in the early days of WFAN, did Mike Francesa host a show with Ed Coleman (Monday-Friday)? I think it was mid-days or PM drive. Need help from the crowd.

Did you see Brian Whitman last night on the Glenn Beck Show (CNN Headline News)?

For you Wikipedia fans...time to add info on the Chris Russo story. It's a huge story in the history of WFAN.

TV NOTE: I was watching the Mets tonight on SNY. They played a video clip from September 1973. It was the Mets vs. The Pirates. In the Pirates bullpen....the golf cart with the Pirates hat on top. I got a kick out of those carts. Bring them back! The Yankees had brand new cars, not golf carts, in the '70s. I believe Toyota cars.

What I remember about Ed Coleman on middays was his teaming up with Dave Sims, who eventually did TV sports for Channel 2 News before his current sportscasting job with the Seattle Mariners. Dave was a pleasure to work with back then (circa 1991), and is great with the Mariners today. "Coleman and the Soulman" was the name of the program, though most people simply referred to it as "Ed and Dave," IIRC. Imus' sidekick Bernard McGuirk made me laugh with his poor parody of the show, impersonating Ed and Dave agreeing with each other on everything. Perhaps we listeners found Mike and Chris' constant debating and disagreeing more entertaining to listen to.

While I fantasized about winning the pinstriped "Yankee Toyota Supra" back in the '80's (who closed back then... Dave Righetti? Brian Fisher?), I can't imagine Metallica's "Enter Sandman" blasting through Yankee Stadium while Mariano Rivera is driven onto the field.

Ed Coleman & Mike Francesa hosted a show from 10am-1pm in early 1989 up until August. (Mike + The Maddog debuted on Tue. 9/5/89). Mike (solo) would fill in for Pete Franklin (3-7pm) on many occasions as Pete had health problems.

Thank you. Thank you.

I remember Ed & Mike on the FAN. I didn't see the Ed & Mike combo on their Wikipedia site. But I do remember going to lunch in my sports car listening to the guys. Before I would go to lunch I would try to win $ 100 bucks with Z-100's Mystery Oldie. I was excellent when it came to the Mystery Oldie. My boss/owner didn't care I spent mega hours listening to the radio. I was his number one cash cow.
