will be interesting to see how FRANK does. Reading needs new radio. (to challenge old & tired stations there)

"New radio" is a cookiecutter classic hits station? One that plays just about the same exact songs as WMGK and WODE? "To challenge old and tired stations" Like WRFY, the station that plays today's music, plus the classics, plus the Oh Wow?

Sorry, Frank from B-town, I need to call you on this. WFKB has brand spankin' new studios on Perk Ave, juuuuust up the road from their nemesis, WRFY (and sister WRAW). It's in a converted old convenience store-turned-office building heading towards Reading in Mt. Penn, right before it bears to the right and becomes one way across the viaduct.

Um..last time I listened to both stations, it seemed that WRFY was playing more classic stuff than newer stuff, if there's any new music at all. Even the imaging is stressing all the classic hits stuff.

i was just up on the hill in boyertown, where the back up stick is a few weeks back...what good is a back up tower thats 15 miles away? plus, they just got done installing all digital connections from WFKB-FM studios in boyertown, to the tower in Bechtelsville....and all digital equipment was installed inside the building...i heard it was there sales office up in reading

no overnight or weekend jocks on FRANK? how do young jocks ever get a start these days? stations are too cheap to hire jocks for weekends/ overnights. Just segue music and spots on a computer and rake in the $$$$!! SAD!!

how's the FRANK-FM Ken & Jenn morning show? for some reason I cannot hear it on-line.

I assume Jenn is doing the news/traffic, etc. and Ken is doing the humor and music?

Highly inovative. Let's have a guy/gal morning show. Let's do the 60 second news update and let's have the female handle that. Then a corporate approved classic hit. Some discussion of the critical issues of the day, such as Rosie O'Donnell and Katie Couric. Then the novel idea of asking a featherweight question, so we can go to the phones. Truly gripping radio.

I assume you're describing what you heard on FRANK this morning. Does Jenn do anything other than news/traffic?

I myself didn't have a chance to listen this morning but from the sounds of things they are trying to be a cookie cutter of Y102's Morning, and it only works for Y102 because Jackie And Scott are more of a marriage than a partnership. They get a long better than a couple who has been married for years. You can't get any better morning radio than a duo that can read each other, like they do.

I divide my days between NYC, NJ and Pa. (I hoped FRANK would be different. there's hardly any creative radio now.)

I think I understand the Frank AM show idea. Yeah, it's not creative but I believe that it is designed much like the Hawk AM show in Allentown. The show, like the station, is really an AC presentation of classic hits. This morning during the Jenn & Ken's Odds & Ends bit they discussed Katie Couric and played a clip from "The Family Guy" where Peter is talking to Katie Couric on the TV. The fact that in his set up of the clip Ken felt he had to explain what "The Family Guy" is ( an ireverant show) made me realize that they are speaking to a female audience with their kids. Or at least that is how it seems to me. I don't have an opinion of the two personalities. Perhaps I will have to listen longer because I didn't get a sense of who the people are. Who knows, maybe I'm not supposed to. Over all, I don't think it is a bad show, just not what I would expect from a format that traditionally seeks to attract male listeners.
