Frank from Gloucester

This past year is the first time I've been able to listen to the radio all day long. The station I listen to the most(especially during baseball season) is WEEI. I got up this AM, turned on the radio, and the first voice I hear is Frank from Gloucester. He calls 'EEI every single day. I know they supposedly have a rule against it but I've heard him twice on the same day; usually on the weekends.

I've heard people say that they were on hold for over an hour waiting to get on, but this guy is on every day. Why is that? Do the individual hosts and/or call screeners decide who gets on or does it come from higher up? I can see the comedic value to his calls, because he always says something stupid, but seven days a week? Enough is enough.

I've mentioned this in other threads but I'll bet he has an inside line so he gets on the air first. Also, although he started as a regular caller, I suspect he's a paid performer at this point...

also, it's hypocritical since he calls several shows and I once heard Pete "blow up" a guy on the Big Show who had the audacity to have also called the midday show earlier...

EEI has a stable of regular "callers" who I suspect are given a different phone number from other callers. Its all about generating a buzz.

I think from Frank from Glouchester became the the defacto replacement for "Butch from the Cape" on EEI. But there was only one Butch. Wonder if JT The Brick has a tape of Butch when called in to his show in 1998 to talk about Normar ("No Arm") Garricepar. That was classic Butch.

interesting to note that Butch's name came up in article up here in Portland regarding the potential WEEI networking thing. one person interviewed in the original column (Portland Press Herald (ME) August 24, 2007) made note of Mainers not wanting to hear "Butchie from the Cape."
in today's Sunday Telegram, (http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=131074&ac=PHedi), one letter writer made note of the fact that Butchie was sadly no longer with us. of course, the letter writer, in taking the original "man on the street" to task failed to take into consideration that things happen over time, and one of the things is perhaps that the working knowledge of WEEI and perhaps the regular callers are based upon long-past listening habits (ie: either lived down there or caught an hour or so on the way to a game at some point)
some callers get a "pass" in regards to the one-a-day or one-a-week call-in. even Steve LeVeille gives some callers a pass in regards to actually being on the phone when it's their turn (cue Jeopard music).

Yes sometimes rules can be broken: re a caller's "limit" in calling the same station/show. For three
days in a row, "Steve From Montreal" (listening on WVMT) called in but Howie didn't mind. They
have different opinions but Howie likes having him on (another Montreal-er who calls in from time
to time is Wally, whose opinions are closer to Howie's)

Frank from Glouster is on T.V. adds ( suffolk Downs ) .

An occasional open to the Whiner Line is when Butch calls JT and complains that Pete Sheppard blew him up.

Whatever happened to Al from Everett. The only thing close I've heard was the mocking "Allah from Everett" on the Chump....er, Whiner Line.

Frank, another ethnic type, and the guy from Braintree gets me reaching for the preset fast. The routine has got very old.
For the record, Butch got one of his former associates whom he owed money, killed by the cops: he was a rat. And I doubt that they give a house line to Frank. He's a persistant egoist relentless enough to get through on his own. He needs to get on.
I think the last time I called a show was in the early 90's. So it's probably easier to get in than you think.

they may not have renewed Al's WEEI contract since Parcells is no longer coaching and that was Al's whole schtick--his butt-kissing of the Tuna.

I can't recall Al from Everett ever talking about anything besides Parcells and Bledsoe. They've both retired. I don't think he knows anything else about football, so he can't call.

And since Drew Bledsoe won't be the starting quarterback of any Super Bowl he lost his one and only schtick.
