Frank Shiers is B-A-C-K.

the brakes said:
It's official...the folks at Bonneville believe Frank Shiers is better than "The Best of Dave Ross". Weeknights 10pm to 1am.

Uh - not quite. Shiers replaces Hendrie who replaces Ross reruns.

And in my humble opinion, any radio owner who replaces a canned or satellite show with a LIVE, LOCAL show - that's a GOOD thing, no matter who it is!

I couldn't agree more..except that part about "NO MATTER WHO IT IS". But you're right..I'm happy for Frank and wish him nothing but the best.

Great. He ish eashily one of the worsht hoshtsh in the hishtory of Sheattle broadcashting. Excuse me - I got a bit carried away imitating him.

The ego of Shiers is impossible to hide. This will make it even harder to be in the same building with his Hugeness. He is the Prince of Passive Aggressive behavior. He SAYS he wants your opinion but not really. He considers himself a vest pocket intellect - but not really. Remember - he's the dumbass who loves to ridicule "liberal" thinking like global warming. I'm sure the whole flap over our messing up the stratosphere is just a statistical blip and Sarah Palin is busy coming up with a plan to deal with it.

Finally - ck out his editorial "cartoons." They're hideous and not much above stick people. And who else would have the ego to sign his work as "Frank Shiers - Editorial Cartoonist?" What's next, Frankie? We need to address e-mails to you as a "Talk Show Host?"

I didn't think much of Hendrie and I'm pleased to have local on the air UNLESS - they're hacks. It won't bother me much. KIRO-FM is like listening to air leak from a balkloon. I'm really liking KIRO-AM/ESPN these days. Brock & Saulk (sp) and Callabero are really entertaining. I'm surprised - and I'm learning about sports as well? Bonus!

I was thinking along the same lines...they've got one good station in there/ not two.
5-9 News
9-12 Ross
12-3 B + S
3- 6 KC
6-7 Pregame or news
7-10 Mariners or TBTL
overnight- ideally, Loveline and or other lifestyle talk- or repeat your 9-6 daytime from 10-5 overnight.

I would listen to this station. A lot. Frank Shiers may or may not be a decent human being, but to me he comes across as a tool. Just like Dori, and much like R and D. I just don't get the appeal of the noon to six programming on 97.3...and it seems like the PPM backs that up.

Some facts for WKomm....

First, Shiers does not sign his name to his editorial cartoons as "Frank Shiers, editorial cartoonist." On all of his cartoons, he signs it, "Shiers, Jr. Creative" with and the date and copyright. The former is a slug line that the North Kitsap Herald adds beneath the cartoon and he has no control over that. The guy produces 6 editorial cartoons a week---all of which are paid for.

Second, Shier's cartoons are seen by more people in Western Washington each week than David Horsey's. That's because the combined circulation of the papers that he appears in easily eclipses the numbers who see Horsey's stuff locally. And note the term LOCALLY because, yes, Horsey is nationally syndicated.

Third, as for his talent level, he's a card-carrying member of the American Association of Editorial Cartoonists. You can't belong if you can't create a decent editorial cartoon.

And finally...If you think "Brock & Saulk" is good (sports) talk radio, you wouldn't know talent -- cartooning, radio, or otherwise--if it whacked you on the head.

Go back to your overnight board op'ing gig and stop whining.

NOW it's clear. CorporateSuit = Frank Shiers. Who else would know so much fluff about such a puff-weight of a guy?

Ooooo - Shiers is a real live "card carrying member" of the whatever. Well, I'll have you know I'm a card-carrying member of Costco and you can't belong unless you're able to cart out a 30 roll package of toilet paper. And I thank you for a spontaneous belly-laugh, trying somehow to spin a favorable comparison of the stick-man drawing Shiers to the two time Pulitizer Prize winning Horsey, whose web site gets over 1,000,000 page views a month. I'm certain he's extremely upset that Shiers scribbles are seen in Bellevue at $50 a pop.

Frankly (pun intended), I'm amazed Shiersh can soldier through three whole hours a night on the air after drawing SIX stick-man drawings a week. Dang! Lots of props his way. That would exhaust any normal man.

Look, Fran, er - CorporateSuit ... I understand how hard it is for you to accept the fact not everyone judges "talent" the same way you do. That's to be expected, right? After all - you're a suit.
