Franken FM End Date: 7/13/21

WJMF-LP (87-7 The Bridge; soon to be 94-3 The Bridge?) is scheduled to sign off at midnight tonight. However, its format (classic hits) has already moved to WZQK (1240) and W232DD (94.3).

That seems to be da plan. They're all owned by Rainey.

In a rough translation of the Korean on their web site, WNYZ-LP has announced a "station digital antenna construction period" of July 14th to August 24th, and is inviting listeners of the 87.7 FM signal to tune to 101.5 FM (W268BY), 93.5 HD4 (WVIP), or their smartphone app during that time.

Are you sure it was Guadalupe (Spanish religious) and not a pirate which has swooped in and begun using the frequency?

If you're sure it was KZNO-LP, then they must now be either transmitting only an analog audio carrier, or a digital TV signal plus an analog audio carrier. I think an analog TV would still be able to receive the audio carrier even if no video signal is present -- at least on older ones which don't blank out to a blue screen. But when Shango tuned in and took that photo, they were off the air entirely.
I tuned in again today on my way to work, and sure enough, it was Guadalupe Radio.

A weekend trip up I-91 yielded reception of two pirates -- a weak one doing Spanish religion in Springfield, MA on 87.9 that wasn't even full-quieting all the way through the city, and a powerhouse signal on 87.7 around Hartford that was in the clear well into the northern and southern suburbs. That station was playing exclusively Puerto Rican artists in older genres, including Ray Barreto and this tune, "Aguadilla."

That song stuck in my mind because Aguadilla and Aguada are the Puerto Rican cities of origin for just about all of the longtime Puerto Rican families that have come to my city of Meriden over the years! Never knew it was the subject of a song until now.
