For a long time, Family Radio ran 88.1 in Sacramento on the exact same tower as TV channel 6. I always figured it was licensed based upon some kind of showing that since the transmitters were co-located, and thus the signal from 88.1 was, by definition, always down so-many-db from that of TV 6. I never heard of any complaints. The frequency spacing is not quite 2nd adjacent so it might work technically if the LPTV is located far enough away from any population. Whether it would pass muster regulation-wise is another story.

I wonder if FCC will force KFCF to protect Cocola's TV 6. You'd think they would be grandfathered. This could be wierd as the station has Cocola as their landlord at their transmitter site.

I think the FM could only do vertical polarity due to the ch 6
 
It looks like KFCF could not migrate to Bear Mountain (Fresno County) as it would be too close to KAWF 88.5 Selma, despite the KAWF directional antenna. I wonder if KMCF-LD could co-locate with KFCF?
 
I was talking with another owner/engineer last night...he claimed there was no video on the California Frankens..can anyone confirm this? I seriously doubt they are running just the FM carrier in light of the STA requiring ATSC V3 for the TV signal..they would risk a big fine and revoking of the STA if caught.
I still have reservations about it..it gives a TV station a free FM operation that bypasses every step needed for a new FM signal; application, bidding, etc. The old analog was a free extra for the high power 6s...this V3 hybrid mode though is totally different as the FM is programmed not with the TV audio but as a separate FM signal..
Guess we'll see what happens when the FCC meets
 
I can't see the FCC approving any new Franken FM applications. The existing Franken FM stations are operating under STA. There will come a time when they will be shut down.

Looking at the frontpage photos I guess Cocola has had several of his properties for sale for quite some time including KGMC-TV Fresno.

Given Cocola's impact not just on Valley TV but Valley radio I thought this merited posting,
