And you were wrong- What is the big deal?
Why the hell are you in Asheville anyway? NC isn't exactly the most liberal state on the planet, especially if you don't count the typical Black Democrat as a liberal. You may find the lovely conservative towns of, hell, anywhere else but Chapel Hill more to your liking. Good grief...

Ok, I'll bite- where are these illustrius facts? Do they include XM and the online feeds? The number of listeners is based on population and ratings. A rise of 0.5 share in New York beats a loss of 1 in Asheville by a long shot. Not to mention in the few towns where they have been dropped (like Charleston) they had low ratings so they wouldn't lose a lot of listeners- it's circular logic. I'll wager that overall AAR listenership is up considerably.
The website at AAR shows an overall reach of 85 stations for its libtalk programming- a stretch to call all of them AAR affiliates but still growth.
The providence station has turned to local libtalk: Howie Bart is on it (a self proclaimed "60s" liberal); from AAR they have Randi Rhodes, and several other libtalkers from AAR on the weekend. Once WKOX powers up most of Rhode Island will be covered by it. WWRC still shows up on the AAR site and the website is still out there. They haven't dropped yet I guess.
Obviously you haven't heard AAR talk about itself- only what conservatives have told you. If you watched the CEO Danny Goldberg discuss AAR last summer you would have heard a rather balanced discussion of ratings. Hardly the rosiest picture you pretend they paint. They use worlds like "growing" to describe themselves. Sounds pretty modest to me.
I have never heard anyone at AAR say they hate America (the US). I have heard lots of conservatives say they hate Americans. Some have suggested certain parts of the country be devastated by hurricanes or natural disasters simply because they disagree with the way Americans in those parts of our country think (those that agree with them I guess should be spared but at any rate the ends justify the means I'm sure).
