Franken: Paychecks stopped - Bankruptcy Possible

NEW YORK (AP) - Financially strapped Air America Radio, after star commentator Al Franken said his paycheck had stopped coming, acknowledged Thursday that it had laid off a few employees but insisted it has no plans to declare bankruptcy.

Franken, broadcasting Thursday from New York, said he was aware of the bankruptcy rumors.

"We may or may not, that's what I'm hearing," Franken said at the start of his noon broadcast. But he assured listeners that the financial problems wouldn't silence the network.

Wow!!

Flintstone is a one-man forum spamming machine!!!!!

At what point does launching thread after thread after thread on the same subject constitute spamming a forum? I think Flintstone passed that threshold.

Say Fred, how about skimming the number of new threads down a bit.

I know you're excited, but do we need a new thread every time you have something to say?

And this will probably be the only time I agree with RR.

Dear Irish,

I will be glad to make a reply to you.

On the old board, all threads and all individual posts could be seen on the main board page. It was possible then to start subtopics within a thread and to post to a subtopic. It was also possible to assign new subject lines in sub-topics which also could be seen at a glance from the main page.

Now we can only see the original title of a thread, no branching of subtopics is possible, and threads run over multiple pages (making it awkward to follow the flow of a discussion). IMHO long threads, especially as the discussions diverge - sometimes in multiple directions (which is inevitable in any conversation) - become unweildy. In this new format, it makes sense to me to introduce new information or new points into a new thread and to keep forwarding the conversation in that fashion. As I said earlier, reasonable people may differ. I'm not sure why introducing a new thread to advance a discussion generates such hostility in some others. However, I find as some threads get longer and wander more, I miss the old format (except for how the old board showed posts in reverse chronological order, which was also awkward). Actually, this topic might have been better handled as new thread - maybe on Ask Radio-Info or even a private message.

Of course, you may still prefer to the approach of adding to existing threads but I hope you understand where I'm coming from when I start a new thread.

"I hope you understand where I'm coming from when I start a new thread."

I understand where you're coming from. You're trying to push older threads where you were embarrassed off of the main page, and came up with a semi-plausible sounding excuse.

At least, that's what Scott told me.

I agree with the other posters that this is essentially spamming the forum. We have the same problem in a few others. There is nothing new in this post that couldn't have been added to an existing post, and unlike the old software, a reply to an older thread immediately puts it back on the first page of the forum listing.

Further, the headline doesn't match the article, which is simply Air America denying it plans to declare bankruptcy and Al Franken adding his two cents about his paycheck. This would have been more appropriate in the existing AAR denials thread or the original AAR thread that started this discussion.
