Has anyone ever met this guy.

And this is a guy that hasnt been popular in 10 yrs. When was the last time you heard a Frankie Bones track, or mix on the Radio,, I think I was probably about 15..lol. And he thinks all Mainstream Dance SUCKS, and claims that DHT is a peace of ****.....I dont know, but last time I checked, Frankie never topped the CHR Mainstream Charts. I met this CLOWN, on a raver board, where I was kindly doing some Promotion for my Friends new Underground dance- Part 15 station. In fact, all these stupid Drugged out ravers teamed up against me, talking their smack, and I got pretty Dang nasty with them, as that board isnt moderated or edited. I also met the guys from GROOVE ARMADA on this board, and they were as nice, and supportive as can be. Frankie and his little methed out Raver friends are giving a bad name to the EDM Scene. <P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by rdalton on 09/15/05 12:53 AM.</FONT></P>
 
Frankie is an old friend of mine from Brooklyn, although it's been many years since I've spoken to him. He used to bring me his freestyle productions back in my radio days (Mid-Late 80's). Even gave me Special thanks on a few. :)

Fact is, his tastes have changed and he's feeling more underground stuff and that's cool. But I would ask him, if he did actuall trash DHT or any other dance artist, what happened to PLUR?

Either way people have the right to say what they wish, it doesn't mean it's a fact.

The problem that I have with these ravers....

Here is a few perfect examples:

1) Darude - Sandstorm... when this song first came out it was "siiiiiiiiiiick" and and now since it is basically considered a mainstream song.. they now call it "cheese".

2) Motorcycle - As The Rush.. See example #1

If anything makes it to the mainstream... no matter how great the song is.. or how much they liked the in the past.. it is considered "cheese"... These people are too cool to open their minds and actually admit they they like a mainstream song... because in the eyes of the other ravers... they will be considered a "sell out".

They all bitch and moan that there is no dance music on radio... but yet, they dont want the scene to grow outside of their closed minded box. It's amazing how many times that I have heard that "TIESTO IS A SELL OUT" because he is now doing these massive concerts.<P ID="signature">______________

There is a lot of negativity towards European music in the underground scene here. "They feel as if house music was stolen from them".
I respect what they've done in the past, but if they continue to release underground records, that's exactly where they will stay. Underground.

Haha...it's funny you mention him. Sam Buca interesting fact: a guy I know is named Frank so I call him Frankie Bones. Another is Benny so I call him Benny Benassi. One more is Roger so I call him Roger Sanchez. I seem to call everybody by dance artists...like when I don't know someone's name I call them Barry Harris. No one gets it but me...boohoo to them.

But that name takes me back...Needle Damage, Keoki, Tall Paul. If the aluminum wasn't flaking off those CDs I burned back then I'd still be listening to those mixes.<P ID="signature">______________

Yeah, but Sam he is such a dick dude. He doesnt like anybody who like Mainstream Dance music. He thinks all internet radio is a joke. He is a very self centered apatheic type person. He wont even acknowlegde someones existance if he thinks that person is below him. His charector is absolutely dispicable. Ive never met such a jerk, not a DJ, not anybody, I could even direct you guys on where to meet him, and you can see the nice 18 page argument we had, with Frankie Bonners, and about 20 of his Azz kissing friends. You guys are cool though, this is were civilized EDM people hang out, there is a big difference between Clubbers and ravers.

I remember the whole anti-Keoki era. I was still in high school at the time so I took this with a grain of salt, but apparently he pulled another DJ's needles in the middle of a set and chucked the table across the stage.<P ID="signature">______________

I do know that DJ Tiesto is very NICE, Polite, and Pleasant guy. I havent met him personally, but ive seen him on interveiws and stuff, and I see how he treats other fans. I had the pleasure of meeting Darude and Annemie from Ian Van Dahl. We had a ton of problems with the sound right before Annemie's sound check...she just sat patiently singing to herself. Beautiful, talented and nice person. Darude is a totally cool guy...down to earth and polite.<P ID="signature">______________

Actually, Danny Tenalia is considered to be one of the most down to earth of the mega DJs. Tiesto for the most part is very cool with his fans, although there were those who weren't all that impressed with his more recent attitude. I guess when you're the number one DJ in the world, and the most recognized name in Dance music, a lot of people vie for your attention.
As for Keoki, yeah everybody's heard a story or two about how Keoki crashed on the turntables while doing speed, or how he was so strung out that he fell down the stairs of a club. Or that Sandra Collins used to get so drunk, and not show up to half the gigs she was scheduled for.

As for Frankie Bones, you gotta respect the man. He's been a part of the scene from day one. He's got attitude, he's opinionated, and he's got his own style of DJing. He may not be friendly and polite like Armin Van Buuren, but he has earned the respect of many over the years. So what if he doesn't like DHT - most of the big name DJs (like Sasha, Oakenfold, Roger Sanchez, Paul Van Dyk) aren't into the type of Dance/Pop associated with DJ Sammy and DHT. Just like some of the underground Hip Hop DJs may not like 50 Cent, or Nelly. <P ID="edit"><FONT class="small">Edited by rdalton on 09/15/05 08:20 AM.</FONT></P>

Im a clubber.. I probably go out 3-4 times/ week here in Miami.. but im not closed minded like that dude is. I think there is a big difference between a raver and a clubber.

Most people in the radio industry think internet radio is a joke.. so that's no biggie.

Just keep this in mind:

He doesnt like anybody who like Mainstream Dance music.

And anyone that likes Mainstream Dance Radio doesnt like him.. and there are a whole shltload more mainstreamers than candyravers in this country.

(PS: I agree with you : )

1. One of two professors that made an impact on me, beyond the books:
Once told me, and the class, that(above) is the uniqueness of the
'sub-culture' Once, it is admired by many, in this case, the
'ravers'/aka/posers, will lose some of their identity. This can
also be said of immature children, which reinforces your point.

2. Alan Cross (edge.ca) put it best-in the paraphrased exerpt below:

WHat...can't you share ?? Problem/Favorable quality of dance
music is the unmatchable sound..by any other genre..that should

and Dance-Friendly DJ's have the annoying habit, of "First Play" 'rights'
take the DHT song..people claimed as long as 19 months ago.."they"
had it first!! who cares..u have it now, play it - people get soo
wrapped up on having the music soo freeeeakin early, they dont
give the 'masses' a chance to catch up..
 
DaRude : )

Met daRude twice..
First, (best) at the z103-CNE Presenation of his concert..
Unfortunately, there was a low turnout....(couple of 100/higher end: 500).
And, that higher-end 500 was there to see the popular(at the time) band,
wave...and 'stuck' around for DaRude..most know who he was, as they/we
moved closer to the front but, as he continued (with his MC-Chris, from
Chicago..now whereabouts, unknown) the crowd started to dwindle down..
but that in fact was the best part of it- due to the low number
of people..following the show..fans stuck around, got a few
autographs, and even more persistant fans of z103& DaRude got to
go where he was getting ready to go out for a nite out in toronto..

Awesome Guy!! !!
I had those 'stupid' heeley's(shoes with the wheels), and i glided
towards him..he called me "Rollerboy" !! Later, on a scheduled website
chat, with JS-16, i signed on as "RollerBoy" and immedaitely knew
I was near the toronto(area) and asked about the station that brought
him to canada. He is amazing DJ--with excellent people skills..

*only thing: he was very passionate AGAINST the d/loading of his music..
but remember this was about five yrs. ago, when this seriously was
shaking the foundation if rising artists would ever get compensated for
their achievements/CDs/etc..*Remember, at the time, the topic was
'scary' for the musical artists, as it was preceived every one's career
would be over, unless you were...u2, or Madonna...and could sell out
100,000 seats for a concert*

2nd encouter:
Last year, in BUffalo-he played a club in the downtown party district.
There was alot more people..as it was 'hyped'up on the chr-station, in
buffalo..and the response reflected this..but, I did get his attention..
he waved to me, and i was able to give him my email address..
he would periodically email/reply a quick hello now and then...

He gets my vote, as the world-wide best DJ!!! on and off the tables..!!!

Hey, Russ, whats up,,, You gotta point that there are a whole lot more mainstreamers than Candy Ravers,, I honestly CANT STAND, most ravers, and I can honestly say, that HIP HOP fans are nicer people, and actually more open minded, and more willing to listen to MAINSTREAM DANCE. These guys even have a special DESTROY ALL TRANCE message board, where I posted,,, Yeah, how about we destroy all House Music, and all Breaks, prgressive and underground too while were at it. By the way RUSS, im really liking the new 93.1 THE BEAT, that you have on 1club.fm, I love the concept, of that being the new format for the old PARTY 93.1, they should have hired you as the PD + consultant. It reminds me of the 95.3 PARTY Orlando, but with less Breaks, and better less repetative Hip Hop. I heard some Classic Bone thugs in Harmony, that faded off into Darude Sandstorm.. It also kinda reminds me of the OLD ENERGY 108 Hamilton-TORRONTO, a little bit. The afterhours channel is also very good, plus there is some new ones I need to Check out. I dont know if any of your channels are quite right for the CANDY RAVERS though LOL, there is no Jungle-DNB channel, and no Hardcore channel, lol,,, and I dont think your Breaks channel is Exactly the kind of Breaks that they go for,,,,Boombox 61 on Sirius would better fit them.
 
Sounds like the rock n' roll crowd doesn't it. Truth is that those kinds of whiners can all stay in their little holes where they belong. They can all have their test pressings that no one knows and when they rant on about how a song is three years old when the public reacts to it? The public can say that they HAVE A JOB in life and it's not sitting at home complaining on a message board or in some chat room with other 9.00 an hour burger flippers about how the "scene" that they can't afford to be in anyways is going down the drain. For those who actually WORK for a living and can appreciate it all, those are the balanced people I'd rather talk and be around. They're not as off their rockers as the X and Meth crowd.
