Frankie Day

770 sounds GREAT after 5pm....the mix of 60s with a smattering of 50s and early 70s reminds me of how oldies sounded back in the 90s and 00s....before the move to 70s based..which had to be done for most of these stations to stay within sellable target demos.

When Frankie Day and a few of the other jocks are on the air, the music is unlistenable. Lots of unfamiliar music to most people today. And all the begging for five dollar checks is really bush. Either the show can be supported by legit advertisers or it needs to go. It's called the free market.

NERW reports, accurately, that Frankie Day will only be heard on the 97.5/770 KFB morning show, from
7-10:30 AM weekdays, starting this Wednesday (February 1).

The automated oldies presently heard at night will fill the void for the time being, although it is possible
(if not downright probable) that some of the airtime will eventually be sold to other program hosts.

I think Mr. Day's recent stroke probably had more impact than even he thought it would have. I wish Frankie well, I would not be surprised if family members may also have had something to say about the decision.

I would not be surprised with all the barter arrangements and/or time purchases that will come. FM 97.5 actually is a good signal from Greensburg west toward Pittsburgh, so I wonder if anyone may be thinking in a future life of selling time during the overnight hours. (Both ads and shows such as Frank Powaski's New Year's Eve special from Jeannette.)

I lose FM 97.5 north of the Camp JoAnn area that straddles the Murrysville-Washington Township line to a country station in St. Mary's (I think Bob Stevens' original FM, if I'm not mistaken) but in many of the areas where I can drive I get four Westmoreland FMs, FM 103.1 (Stevens' WKVE), FM 107.1 (Renda's WHJB), FM 103.9 (Stan Wall's WLSW) and FM 97.5.

[/quote] I Live in Mccandless Twp [Northwest] Allegheny County and 97.5 is Strong in our Area. During the summer Mo's we sat on our Deck after 770 Signed off and Enjoyed the Music. Suzy Q is Now Saying [2-4-12 @1145am] That a New Oldies DJ will Start on 770 next Saturday @ 12 Noon.
