John Cats needs to dump these two off the station both are useless
There is an importance in WABC that few other local stations have: it is a single, owner operator station run by a local person. The possibility that it could do some interesting things and survive while all the other AMs seem to be dying is an interesting subject.Thank god, another thread about WABC, the most important and influential station in New York with its 1.6 share but at least they're #1 in retirement homes and radio message boards. Who are Frankie Russo and Juliet Huddy by the way?
Like a lab rat on a new medication, it is important to watch.
No, the WABC ratings are not "way up". They are not even a little up.I love it and the ratings apparently are way up.
They are up according to WABC ratings - so there's that. I love that you look to be right, and make someone wrong, instead of actually reading the comment. You might listen to the station once in a while. It's phenomenal. No, the WABC ratings are not "way up". They are not even a little up.
They have wobbled between a 1.8 and a 1.4 since the same time last year; there is no up or down trend, just the normal within the statistical degree of accuracy during the entire period.
At that level of listening, a 1.4 and a 1.8 are the same number statistically.
In 25-54, they wander between a share of 0.5 and 0.8 which is in the vicinity of 25th in the market. Their 25-54 rating is 0.0.
Yes, compared to the previous month and the Holiday book they are "up" but they are in the same statistical range they have been at for the last 12 to 13 books. And the margin of error in that daypart means that a 0.4 and a 1.1 and a 0.9 and a 0.6 are all within that range. There is just not enough sample for any real precision there. They are up according to WABC ratings - so there's that. The fact is that the ratings are not "up" for WABC. And the 7 PM to Midnight data for that station in persons 18+ is as wobbly as ever, given the very small usage of radio in that daypart. The numbers are within a range where they have been for the last 12 months.
Less than 3% of all persons are listening to the radio in the full 7 PM to Midnight daypart on Saturday. And WABC in those full 5 hours has a 1.1 share. That is the high end of a range of the numbers that daypart has had since the same time last year, and you are reminded that the 7 to Midnight includes a definitively better known talent in the first 3 hours.
To be precise, there were about (rounded) 220,000 average persons listening to all radio from 10 PM to 12 Midnight on Saturdays in the market.
The AQH audience for WABC (AM) in 10 to Midnight on just Saturday in persons 18+ was about 3,000 persons. The #1 station had over 18,000 and there were 35 stations ahead of WABC in those two hours. That's out of 10,999,400 persons over 18 who used radio during the average week in the February book.
