Franklin New FM allocation

Does anyone have info on the owners of the auctioned frequency, and what their plans are? Thanks JBI

Right and thanks...That's why I am wondering if they plan to spin or build...I should have been more specific...JBI

45k seems alittle high for that CP,not sure if can be improved.Never hurts to approach them about a possible sale. They may find out that ain't NY..

Naw, it ain't. and while Lafayette is a sizeable market, some stations there seem to have problems ...I own a home in the vicinity, so you can understand my interest. Have you ever been in this area? Very nice people ...JBI

When i worked at WTIX,that was a home town of an eng friend.I'.m a South La. native and yes they're fun loving good folks.Sounds like you're getting home sick, alittle. Did you consider bidding in the auction? Yep,I know all about coonass living:).Good luck.

I think we have a lot to talk about...please stop in when you are in my area and let's catch up. I did consider bidding, but sometimes it's better to sit back and watch. Lots of times there are revelations that people get when they are not familiar with the area. By the way, does Bill Brown
ring a bell? I have done his upgrades and engineering for years! I think I should cook up a batch of red beans and rice...NO: make it a crawfish bisque! Out...JBI and regards...

My guess is a speculator but from what I'm seeing on the rec.net site, they are trying to move it into Donaldsonville instead. Franklin just lost it's FM for "a lack of funding" as it moved to be near Baton Rouge (KDDK 105.5) and they sold the AM half to KBZE owner Hubcast broadcasting keeping the AM alive as Franklin's only local station.

I could see it more as a station for the area along the coast than as a rimshot in a half, as they will likely catch hell with 106.5 and 107.3 if allowed to move, whereas as long as it stayed away from Lafayette, it would have no problems becoming a c3 or better for St. Mary Parish IMO

With the exception of getting into the suburbs of Baton Rouge (Plaqumine and Gonzales) via service grade, this is just trying to get into the Baton Rouge market like KYPY that is hard to hear from what I know downtown and in the northern parts of Baton Rouge. I hear it as well on the bayou (Houma/Thibodaux) as they do in Baton Rouge and it's a hit and miss when ever the band conditions kick up.
I don't have the stuff to run the numbers but my guess is they would have to protect 106.5 and 107.3 for sure. In Morgan City/Franklin they wouldn't have to worry. Actually I'm surprised it wasn't trying to be brought into Houma as yes the community doesn't have a full power tv station, but if we were any further from Baton Rouge or New orleans I guarantee we'd have a few tv stations (as Houma/Thibodaux is actually bigger than say Alexandria,Monroe, and Lake Charles)
