In Grand County, Fraser Valley Community Media has put a second station on the air, KWTR, licensed to Fraser at 89.1. The new station joins KFFR, 88.3, licensed to Winter Park. KFFR has a CP for additional coverage improvements as well. The intent is to cover most of Grand County with the two stations' signals, KFFR for the northwest portions of the county and KWTR for the southeast. The FCC granted KWTR its license to cover today; another FCC filing indicates that KWTR was on the air beginning earlier in February.

In 2022, FVCM secured a second frequency at 89.1FM. The station will operate under the call sign KWTR, reflecting its identity as a community station at the headwaters of the Colorado River. FVCM has partnered with Winter Park Resort to install KWTR’s transmitter at the Bullfrog Communication Center, an important step in furthering the station’s reach.
“We’re excited to support KWTR as part of our commitment to community,” said Sky Foulkes, CEO of Winter Park Resort. “KFFR plays a vital role in connecting the people of Grand County, and we are proud to be part of that mission.”
