FREAKNIK returns to the ATL

Oh yeah, there are major rumblings on social networks and even local media that Freaknik is back in Atlanta this weekend. All 4 television news stations as well as V-103 and HOT 107.9 have all mentioned Freaknik for this weekend. Atlanta Police even asked the promoters to cancel the event, but they said heck naaaw! Should be interesting to see what plays out this weekend as ATL already has about 4 other major events this weekend in the city.

Boy, it would be nice if HOT 107.9 was to jump in the "Freaknik Megamix" like back in the day when they were HOT 97.5. Nonstop mixing from Friday-Monday morning with live mixers around the clock. The good ol' days of booty bass music and classic No Limit, Outkast and Goodie Mobb.

Interestingly enough, V-103 did an extended live mixshow on Friday night into early Saturday morning with DJ Infamous until 4am when they normally wrap it up at 2am. I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary around town, but it was nice to hear an extended mix

"THE AFTER PARTY" has been on every Friday night for about a month now with Infamous and Lil Bankhead from 2am-4am.

Well, I knew when Lil Bankhead was on air on Friday nights that he would play remix cuts that wouldn't even be heard even on Greg Street's show, but last Friday night was the first time I've heard actual live mixing during this slot.

2am-4am is a perfect timeslot for a weekend mixshow. Actually, V-103 has done this back in the late 90s/early 2000's when DJ Jaycee was holding 3rd shift down on weekend. Im starting to not feel HOT 107.9 as of lately. Way too much repetition.
