Fred McLeod (1952-2019)

The longtime sportscaster, best known for his TV play-by-play work for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Detroit Pistons before that, passed away yesterday (Monday, September 9th) at the age of 67. McLeod was also a sports anchor at Cleveland's Channel 8 (then-known as WJKW) in the late '70s, and was worked on Cavs and Indians telecasts when they had the rights during that time. In Detroit, besides his Pistons work (he called their cable telecasts on PASS, and later Fox Sports Detroit), he worked at WJBK and WDIV before returning to Cleveland in 2006 to broadcast Cavs games. His most recent work was calling Lions preseason telecasts on WJBK/Fox Sports Detroit this summer.
