Fred Toucher, WBCN, being sued by Atlanta DJ Steve Barnes

looks like a pretty well written and researched case.

Somebody better get the checkbook out.

Look at that! All of the lawsuits of an O&A Show without any of that pesky talent getting in the way. ;D

I really shouldn't laugh, but that's pretty funny. Well put, L2.

Just to clairify, WBCN isn't being sued. Cumulus Media Partners (the owners of 99X) is.

Re: Fred Toucher (now at WBCN), being sued by Atlanta DJ Steve Barnes

Smoke, not sure how I missed that. After I read your comment, I can see how some would think WBCN might be part of the lawsuit, in error, due to my abbreviated topic line.

My bad - thanks for pointing that out.

What? and leave show biz? No thank you. :D

Touche (OK so I haven't figured out how to type accents)! Nicely done though I think it might have flown over certain heads.

But it makes me wonder, in our PC climate:

How does Mr. Toucher pronounce his last name?

For example: "Belcher" might be pronounced as though the person were experiencing gastric distress. Or "Bell-Shay", as in the French.

So a writer addressing the subject of the suit is probably on safe ground openly using the gentleman's name as all he/she must do is spell it right.

But imagine the plight of an uninformed radio news-reader coming across the name, sans "pronouncer" in a wire story!

Is it the Frency-style: "Too-Shay"?

Or is it the English Style: "Toucher" meaning one who touches.

And, if the latter, "toucher" having the obscene implication it does in these PC days, does not the gentleman have grounds for a defamation suit of some sort.

Scary, Scary new world, ain't it!

I just skip over the name and yell, "Hey Fry-o-later guy, get working". Opps, sorry. I'm looking into the future again.
