In the 80's he did a remake of Palisades Park but inserted Pittsburgh's Kennywood Park instead and mentioned
a number of it's rides in the lyrics. It was a popular commercial and still gets some play on local oldies stations.

Later generations knew him as a semi-regular on MeTV's Svengoolie (a Saturday night horror B movie show.) Cannon wrote "The Svengoolie Stomp" for him. There'll be some kind of tribute to him, though I'm not sure how far ahead these shows are taped.

His last charted single was "Action," the theme from the Dick Clark show "Where The Action Is," in the fall of 1965. Yet my favorite Freddy Cannon song peaked in March of 1966 outside of the top 40:

I never heard this until I read the song's title on the KCPX (Salt Lake City) charts for 1966 on the ARSA site back around 2010. The lyrics reminded me of Art LaBoe's request and dedication show--and then, I considered that at least, the last verse, was a complete send-up of the entire genre of requests and dedications.

RIP Mr. Cannon! Early rockers will miss you.
