On June 16, 2007, Oscar and Chad hosted a listener party in Tempe. There, they announced to fans that KZON was dropping the FREE FM format, and that they were being moved to a bigger market. This is to be offically announced June 20th on their show. The podcasts and streams will be available on BigOandDukes.com

This kills hot talk on FM in Phoenix.

Will the new station be hip hop or rock? Let the guessing begin.

What a shock!! :eek: Free FM failed??? ::)

I doubt CBS will do anything they aren't already doing at another CBS station. That said, my vote is for "Active/Alternative Rock."

Big O and Dukes would make a great morning show for a rock station, IMHO. I didn't like them when they first came to Phoenix, but I think they've improved significantly since their first show. And, like barnacles, they have grown on me. ;D

I dont know what this guy is talking about. I stopped by that party and said hello to the whole cast of that show, including the Program Director and no one said anything about the station flipping. Just another person wishing they had inside information.

Well, the countdown clock is counting down until the Superbowl in 2008 Glendale starts..........
 
Was at the party with my wife and had talked to some of the staff. I heard they are adding a celebrity cast member. And the counter is for when they relaunch the show. Not the Superbowl! Look for a big name TV star to be joining the boys.
 
I wonder if they'll be trying to start fights with other station's hosts that most likely DON'T LISTEN to them at their new gig? They could've solved the "Arrr!" vs "Ar!" issue in a civil manner, but they decided to make a big deal out of it. Hey, KTAR 620 isn't making a big deal over Jacobs and Marotta using the name "Game On!" even though KTAR was using that phrase in promos since going all-sports in January.

Yes, because big-name TV stars are always looking to join night-time radio shows. Especially local, non-syndicated radio shows. Yes, while washed-up former TV stars like Bonaduce join morning shows hosted by D-listers like Carolla, the real path to fame (and money) for a big-name TV star to become a cast member on a show who's hosts couldn't get past the velvet rope at Myst.

The only person I know who is not allowed at Myst is the guy from DirtyScottsdale.com. Of course, he is the first person I would let in... ;D

LOL. Ford clearly has a chip on his shoulder towards this particular program. While it isnt my favorite, it is one of the few shows talking about thinks going on HERE. All I was saying is I was THERE at the party talking to everyone involved with the show and NOTHING was said about a flip or them leaving.
 
Ok everyone, here's the deal. I just saw the actual logo which is "1015Jamz." It's purple and orange and it said something like "Hit's and Hip-hop." As far as Big O' and Dukes go, they are moving back to D.C. BECAUSE of this flip. I'm told the flip is going to happen within the next few days. I'm friends with sales rep for the CBS cluster, who finally filled me in. Now if you don't believe what I'm telling you that's fine, I'm not someone who's "acting" like they have inside info, I just figured I'd share what I've been told from someone who actually works in the CBS cluster.

CBS is a "cluster (edited- foul language removed)", this much is true. ;D

Btw- the domain names show private registration. It's not that I don't believe you...it's just that I have a hard time with cBS flipping to Hits and Hip-Hop.
 
I admit, it's hard for me to grasp as well...but then again, I don't work for them so I don't know how the company functions either.
 
The guys are coming out of this ahead. Believe me, they're thrilled.
Wait till you hear who the supposed big "TV Star is ;D

I hear CBS has some big name from NYC coming in to anchor the morning show. Wonder if they'll tap the local hip-hop/hits talent pool for the rest of the airstaff. Manic and Gomez would sound good. So would Allie Torrez.

Just heard the TOH for 5pm "You are listening 1015 Jamz Free FM" and then they played the usual Free FM FM Talk station TOH

Guess its true but I am sad to see it go. It gave phoenix something different to listen to. Now we get another hip hop/hits station. Just what we need. Thank God I can still get AC and TL and O&D on podcasts.
