Free live music returns to Nashville

Lightning 100 has been very heavily promoting their latest free live music venture, this one called "Live on the Green." What I wonder is how long will it be before Live on the Green goes the way of Lightning 100's previous live music ventures, like Dancin' in the District and Uptown Mix? Those concert series were free at first, but eventually they had to start charging admission to cover the cost of putting on the shows. Granted, the charge was nominal, but I can't help but wonder if part of that was just to "keep out the riffraff." (Dancin' in the District had issues with underage drinking, but Uptown Mix was adult only.)

This latest series will be free only as long as the bands can play for free, and the sound engineers and other technical staff also donate their time and services. Even so, someone must still pay NES for the electricity! So how long will this arrangement last this time, and how long will it be free? (I question them starting this in September, but maybe they did so intentionally, to reduce the likelihood of teenagers showing up, since school is back in session.)

You really think Citizen Cope is playing for free?

Admittedly, I've never heard of them, but then again, I figured that this event was aimed at twentysomethings. And I'm wondering where everyone who attends this event will park. Will the metro courthouse parking garage be available to them?

Especially for the first show on September 3, since the Titans are playing the Packers at LP Field. Parking will be at a premium for that first show with the fans going to Live on the Green will be fighting for the same parking spaces those going to the LP Field will be going for. It just seems that Lightning 100 could have waited a week to start their Free Music Programs.

Everything i have read has it being the mayors program and Lightning 100 as a sponsor. Dean is trying to return live music to Nashville according to article in recent City Paper.

And, I'm guessing, the usual street closures, too.

Lightning 100 FM, because of its low power, doesnt get the KUDOs it deserves for ALL it does in our community.
I appreciate them, & their FORMAT...its the only station i'd work for IF i were still in the BIZ...

just an old, reminiscing former radio guy
