"Free Talk Live" Adds NYC

The syndicated evening show with about 100 affiliates just landed a clearance in Market No. 1 - New York City. However, it'll be airing on Sunday mornings on tape delay... better than nothing, I guess. By the way: the NYC station clearing "Free Talk Live" is one-time Air America affiliate WWRL 1600 AM. I believe they do run a few hours of progressive talkers a day.

It seems like a bit more than a few hours of prog talkers a day. According to their website, they feature 19 hours of progressive talk weekdays with the hours of 9:00 AM- Noon and 10:00 PM - Midnight for brokered programming.

Free Talk Live appears to be a thinly veiled infomercial for a commune -- oops, they call it a "community" -- in New Hampshire called the "Free State Project. In another thread I asked Ian Bernard -- oops, he changed it to Ian Freeman -- to deny that FTL and FSP aren't one and the same -- he didn't respond.

Must have missed that.

1. I don't live and wouldn't live on a commune.
2. The FSP is a sponsor of FTL. No it's not one and the same.

WWRL is "New York's Progressive Talk".

Wikipedia apparently disagrees:

"Before moving to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project, the show was broadcast from Sarasota, Florida.[3]"

Maybe the entities aren't "one and the same" but there seems to be a great deal of synergy. If I were running a radio station I'd be uneasy about carrying a show with close ties to an activist organization.

It's no secret we are participants in the FSP. FTL are not just talk show hosts, but are also activists. That's part of what makes the show unique, and to some extent a reality show. We're not just commenting on the news - sometimes we make and break it.

I have been arrested five times since moving to NH. If that makes you uncomfortable, you are right - you should not add our show to your station. It's not right for everyone!

I'd be uneasy about carrying a show that features a habitual offender. Maybe one day they will lock you up and keep you there until you can learn to abide by the law. That is, after all, what prison is for.

Good people disobey bad laws. Ask Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. ::)

Activists BY NATURE are habitual offenders. Look at how many times some of the (Now diehard) "Occupy" protesters have appeared before judges since the movement began SIX MONTHS AGO as an example of this

Another example is the Rev. Al Sharpton. He has a weekday show on MSNBC yet even they didn't forget the fact that he's FIRST & FOREMOST a man of God when they hired him to replace Cenk Ugyer last year

If you're that uneasy about & weary of hiring a habitual offender, you'd better stick to programming music stations then.....

Cheers & 73 :D

EDIT Congrats Ian on landing DA BIG APPLE dude ;D

How in the hell does this make it OK?

I want more money! So, I'm going to be an "activist" and rob a bank. When they catch me, I'll do it again... and again... and again...
By your logic there is absolutely nothing wrong with that plan.

Peaceful civil disobedience has no victim.

Robbery has a victim.

Victimizing people is not activism.

Who did MLK victimize? Gandhi?

'Nuff said.

Radio is a business.

Civil disobedience masquerading as a talk show has no place on commercial radio.

MLK didn't try to obfuscate or make apologies for his agenda.

'Nuff said.

I don't apologize for what I do. I'm proud to engage in civil disobedience and noncooperation. More people should try it. It's fun.

Also, FTL is an open phones panel discussion with a pro-liberty viewpoint. It's not "civil disobedience masquerading as a talk show". Only a couple of the hosts are disobedients. ::)

Thankfully, not every program director in the business thinks like you do, wadio. :D
