Free Talk Live Eclipses Fifty Affiliates!

When Free Talk Live was just getting into syndication back in late 2004, I believed I could achieve fifty affiliates within a year! Obviously, I had no idea what to expect. Considering the affiliate relations department at Free Talk Live consists of just me, I feel like I've done pretty well. We've hit the fifty affiliate milestone in less than five years!

The two stations that have joined with Free Talk Live and made this milestone possible this week are our brand new weekday affiliates, WRSC AM in State College, PA and WCER AM in Canton, OH. Welcome!

Thanks to all our wonderful radio affiliates for making this possible!

;D

Congrats, Ian. Considering you don't really have any help, that's a major accomplishment.

I know how hard it is to get affiliates....trust me...

It helps that it's me doing the calls. I think it makes a difference on whether you get your call answered when you can say you are the host of the show.

Congratulations, Ian. It's a great mark!

I see you landed in evenings on WCER/900. That means I'll be able to hear you, at least until winter, when WCER drops to Puny Power at night, and you basically have to be at 22nd and Whipple in Canton to hear it.

I'll try to catch you later this week...

From http://freetalklive.com/affiliates.php :

WCER: M,T,Th,F 7-8p ET

Thanks for your interest! Feel free to call the station, thank them for what they are carrying, and request more FTL!

So the radio show that spews the personal irresponsability dogma (i.e Libertarian Dogma) got themselves some no name stations.

Then Libertarians are nothing more than Republicans who likes to smoke pot.

I don't listen to ex cons who runs FTL. Your "information" is about as reliable as a jailhouse snitch.

You mean no-names like WFLA?

Then Libertarians are nothing more than Republicans who likes to smoke pot.
Try again. I'm a voluntaryist, not a libertarian. I've also in my lifetime enjoyed a select amount of other interesting chemicals.

First, the show is less about information than it is ideas, but we cite all our news sources. Second, that ex-con is a talented salesman who has turned his life around. Of course, you seem to be of the belief that once a bad guy, always a bad guy, right? I guess you're the exact same person today that you were twenty years ago?

Something I've wondered about is would it be easier to get affiliates because of the satellite?

How many do you have that use "the bird" right now? Sat time costs a bunch of cash and I think it'd be hard to get that many affiliates to use a Barix box, especially your major market people like WFLA.

You bet it's easier. If you aren't on one of the big transponders (Citadel, Clear Channel, WW1, Jones), you just aren't on the radar for most stations.

What is the ballpark on sat time per hour btw?

Probably at least $60 an hour unproduced. (Plus the costs of delivering your audio to the uplink facility.) It will be more if you need production (phone screener, etc).

24/7 will run you at least $3,000 per month. (Plus backhaul, so add in another $1500 for a private T1.) Competition has brought prices down, of course, but it's still not cheap.

Re: What's ON-AIR is cool, hip, different, unique...but...

True, but only if they are paying attention and hopefully asking questions. (A few affiliates do, most don't. Not that I blame them - these guys have lots on their plates, and it's no surprise in many cases the website gets neglected.)

Holland, I think you're going to like what we have planned for our web redesign. (FTL 2.0) I'll send you a link to the BETA via email.

what happened to 1) Jeff Rense and 2) Rev. Barry Lynne on the same network that syndicates Free Talk Live (GCN = The Genesis Communications radio network)

No clue. I don't pay attention to their other shows.
