Freedom 1300am relaunch?

I was curious if anyone has heard anything about KSET 1300 making its way back on the air... Info appreciated - thanks

KSET is a Beaumont station licensed to Lumberton Texas just up the road.

The Freedom 1300 format that is mostly a conservative & libertarian talk format left the air a few months ago and is now an online radio station and also I think being broadcast on the 1350 AM station in Jasper.

I heard a rumor that someone new is buying the station and it will be back on the air soon. But have no idea who they are or what their format will be.

Wonder if Beaumont has a format hole that an AM could fill?

Beaumont has plenty of format holes.....but whether they would work in Beaumont is another question..

BTW as a side note, saw the FCC accepted a filing for license to cover for the 97.1 translator that was being placed on the 990 KZZB towers..if it is on, it wont cover but maybe a mile at most with KTHT clobbering it

The 'Freedom 1300' link is still on Tune In, although I think that would be a hard sell for advertisers, even harder than for a pathetically weak AM station.

Why would the FCC ok this 97.1 translator? That's just dumb.

The translator's 60dbU contour does not touch KTHT's 60dbU contour in NW Beaumont by 1mile at most...as long as they didnt cross, they are legal under the FCC numbers..however, we know numbers can be wrong in the real world. KTHT blows into the area as a local and despite what the predicted curves say, the 60dbU covers the area more than maps say....so there were be overlap and interference....no one will listen in the interference area....and those listening to KTHT will probably not hear the translator outside the interference area...right now, I cannot hear anything else on 97.1 and 990 is a dead carrier...has been for the last 3 days...I'm not (pun intended) expecting a miracle any time soon! :)
