Freedom Talk Radio 95.9

WFDM are the calls for 91.9FM, on the campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Not sure how 95.9 could use them.......
WFDU is FDU's broadcast station. WFDM and WFDQ appear to be on-cable or low power non-licensed entities thus their call letters are not reserved.
Some of Purdue's residence hall stations share the call letters of licensed stations (WILY Centralia IL, WLAY Muscle Shoals AL).

Ramsey on from noon-3 pm. Went to the live event tonight. They had 95.9's logo on the big screen and 3 or 4 times reminded the audience of the change. A small mention of WFT was made, a sort of thank you from Ramsey, but the real focus was on 95.9.

Call letters are really sort of irrelevant any more.

1. Most people write down frequency, moniker (Hank, Q95, etc), personality, show, event (Colts, Pacer game) vs. call letters. The notable exceptions in Indy is WIBC, where 70% of their quarter hours are attributed to people writing down WIBC vs. 1070 or some other name.

2. In PPM world the fact that call letters are sort of irrelevant now becomes even more irrelevant.

Unless they get some really compelling call letters like KOME (Don't touch that dial you've go KOME in your ear) it really doesn't matter. Kome was licensed to San Jose in the 80's and used that positioning statement for years. I will probably get edited out...but for those of you who saw if before the moderator did...you got a good laugh.

One shoe dropped, but not the other ???
WWFT is Christmas this morning, as rumored, but Gold 95.9 is, well, still Gold 95.9FM.

Who needs topical discussion of important issues. Bring on the Carpenters "Merry Christmas Darling"!
Who needs radio? Heard that one at Walmart this morning...

I think Indianapolis can deal with only having one station for such "topical" discussions of "important" issues for a day or two. Or they could turn to The Big Juan, WLW.

The lineup from WWFT goes to 95.9 pretty much intact. Dave Ramsey, in fact, started today, which sounded a little odd, considering they were still airing ABC Gold the rest of the day. Freedom Talk 95.9 goes full time Monday [11/19].

Mancow will be simulcasted on 950 AM. XL 950 Sports Talk will air Dan Patrick following Mancow [from the Content Factory], then Sporting News shows till the live PM DR, and SNR continues evenings [unless they have play by play of something]. This doesn't start until January, when the ESPN shift to Emmis occurs.

So, are there any gamblers out there? What are the odds on format for WWFT?

I say The Song is 50-50 at best; a) I don't know if Cumulus Corp is sold on CC format, and b) I don't know if Chris Wheat has it in him.
Rumors in the Fall Creek hallway that Wheat will take it Alternative Rock directly against WRZX have some folks worried; I say 25-75 at best. This format has less and less traction with the "millineum generation" it's supposed to draw its ratings from; its becoming irrelevant with all new media.
Jazz? Nah, I say 10% change. It just doesn't fit the station portfolio to compliment the other stations, and max revenues.
How about Oldies? Just because a rim shot signal couldn't do better than a 1.0 doesn't mean the format's bad. Remember Gold 104.5 was a 5.0+ share before Susq-locals went to The Bear. Those who complain about the format demos being too old to sell are just bad sales people. An "updated" oldies [starting just a little earlier than KLU] with Beatles era and back not too far would fit right in behind Jack, and be same demos as country. I say this is the odds on favorite, better than 50%. Besides, the shift of all the talk syndication from Cumulus to Pilgrim - Raven seems alittle too seemless; there had to be some chats between local management, so maybe the agreement also includes ABC Gold for Cumulus in return for the other contracts. Cumulus loves to save money using syndication whereever possible, so they go Gold Good Guys live again in AM DR, and maybe even MIDDAY and PM DR, then use syndication the rest of the evening/overnights/weekends.

Any takers in the argument, just for fun??? ;)

I like your logic. I doubt there has been any talking between Cumulus and Raven however regarding "if you take this off my hands, I will do this".

My guess is all the shows WWFT was airing were all barter. WWFT excercised the normal 90 day out, which really means we will carry 90 days of the network spots...regardless of the programming being carried on the air. You can bet the spot load requirement from the former shows on 93.9 won't be any problem to clear as they weren't/aren't selling anything anyway (thus the change in format) It will just be a hassle to load into audiovault, and schedule for some Part Time Board Operator (sorry...I had to get that in) :)

Hey...we've got a long holiday week coming up...let's pick on Russ and see if we can get his panties in a bunch....what would be a good thread?
