FreeFM EFR Show

Ok, I finally had a good chance to listen to these guys today and you know what, FreeFM just might have found something here. For a show that came from WILD that was primarily music, they really seem to have a good grasp of the talk format, doing funny topics, having fun and it makes listening to them very easy. It not a "chuckle" hut type of show.

I actually found myself laughing. And not only did i go online to see the photos of the cross dressing fireman but now i have that stupid supermodel song in my head.

I guess we'll see what happens when Dan Mason takes over...from what I heard O & A talk about recently, he seems like a talk show friendly guy. Maybe he will let individual markets start hiring local talent.

I stil can't figure out the A's games though. Makes no sense on this station. I don't see a lot of Leykis listeners sticking around for 5 hrs of baseball.

I think that maybe you have it backwards: CBS/SF is hoping that A's fans tune in, then stick around and have Free FM on their radio when they start the car the next morning.

It seems obvious (DISCLAIMER: I haven't seen the numbers) but Leykis isn't driving listeners to the station. Maybe baseball can drive listeners to the station, and they stick around for talk.

Of course, they could drive even more listeners to 1550 and keep them there if they switched to Oldies...

(Sorry, Mike Preston. I couldn't resist.) (Again.)

That's a lot of hours to give away just to try and get an audience. Yes it will make more people aware of FREE-FM but how is the station going to make any money? There are very few avails on the A's S.F. affiiation.

On the other hand I have listened at night and have not heard any commericals. They have certainaly had a more defined format for a longer time than KFRC so why don't they have spots?

That's why CBS/SF should honestly consider switching Free FM to Oldies ... awww, crud. Are all these horses dead? What do I have to do to get a live horse to beat up around here?
