FreeFM transit ads

Saw my first one yesterday around 20th and Camelback, featuring "American Genius" Adam Corolla. Amazed CBS is actually promoting the format, as they rarely do elsewhere.

Does the ad promote the air time?

I think we've concluded the live show is
7-11am (6-10 PT), however I've been told
the show has been heard as early as the
5:00 hour so 5-7am must be a repeat of
yesterday's show...?

Yes they replay the first two hours of the previous show from 5-7am and also FHF first hour is replayed 3-4. I wonder what they will do come the time change in the spring. I assume do a replay of Carolla 5-6, Carolla live 6-10, FHF live 10-2 but then there are two hours to fill with one I am sure being the replay of hour one of FHF but that leaves an hour before Leykis gets on but maybe they will plug an extra hour of Leykis before 4.

I seriously think they should have a live pm drive and still give us Leykis live for two hours at 6. I have also seen a promo ad at 7th st and indian school.

Since everything in the live world moves
an hour earlier in April, if Leykis is on
4-8 now, he'll be on 3-7 then--so there
would still only be an hour to fill with
the Triplets replay. Assuming they are on
live for four hours, it appears from
originator KLSX El-Lay's website that
they also run the repeat hour 2-3 PT.

And while KLSX lists Leykis 3-8 PT, I read
an item some months back (laradio.com perhaps)
stating 7-8 was a repeat hour--for those
still stuck on the 405 after 7:00.

Leykis said he'll be informing listeners of the new time come April, so plan on him staying live 3-7/4-8 year round. I'd rather condition people with one time to listen, but I guess in Arizona you don't have a choice.

They used to do four hours just for LA when Stern ran until 11, but with the syndication they're starting earlier and running replays. Like anyone's listening for five hours straight anyway.

As much as he tries to pass it off as live, yes.

As to the local PMD show, the FreeFM format isn't designed for local. Pay for Corolla and it's all cheap from there. In LA (and in North County SD) Leykis is basically a local show, and the numbers reflect it. He was also #1 in men 18+ in Seattle 3-7pm against plenty of local news and talk shows as well as Savage. Haven't seen anything in a few months, but he was #2 in men 18-34 and #3 or 4 in men 25-54 on AM in Portland, so why pay someone to do what he'll do for barter and a ratings bonus? I'm all for local, but how about someone who should know better, like say, our heritage AM newstalker?

What do you all think about pm drive in phoenix? Do you think Leykis is going to make a dent in any ones ratings? Will Leykis effect KFYI at all or anyone else numbers for that matter. I only say that because he gets a ton of callers from phoenix and that has to bold well for the ratings. I be interested to see the ratings for pm drive once they come out for Free FM. Also many of the Free FMs have many local content so not all Free FMs are created equal it seems.

what a stray from 'transit ads'

anyways,

i'd like to hear the penn jillette show on 101.5

it would be nice if leykis talked more on the news of the day.

101.5 should also pick up 'the tasting show' with tom leykis.

Yes I agree they should pick up the Jillette show and do what San Diego does, plug it in the replay hour of FHF.

Same brand but different approaches in different regions. Note how Don and Mike own DC and Baltimore but couldn't clear in AZ or CA (save sports talker KHTK) to save their lives. Same with Leykis but reverse the coasts. And the east coast apparently demands more local content, as they tend to do with news/talk.

KSCF/San Diego has decided to quit competing with KGB on the weekends and do talk; right now mostly best ofs, KLSX simulcasts, etc., but I'd think you'll see some of the brokered stuff. The Tasting Room airs on both and it would probably air here, although I must say it's a rather boring show. Sounds like Leykis hosting an infomercial for the latest winery.
