FREEMAN VS. GORDON HEIGES, Gordon Media Group, TCR Radio LLC

In a lawsuit to be filed tomorrow morning (07/05/06), the truth behind the much posted about Arkansas Priorty Radio Network and it's counterpart WAI Radio will be told. The posts on this site say that the network was the idea of Grant Merrill and Pat Lynch, which it was not. All legal information regarding this network is filed with the Secretary Of State and are in the name of Stephen Freeman. The lawsuit focuses on the sale of WAI Radio and The Arkansas Priority Radio Network by owner Steve Freeman to buyer Gordon Heiges of Gordon Media Group and TCR Radio LLC. According to documents to be filed in the lawsuit, Mr. Heiges now refuses to comply with the sales contract and refuses to pay for the business as called for under the asset purchase agreement. However, he plans to keep the companies and in fact launches a Little Rock affiliate tomorrow morning, AALR 1380 AM. Mr. Freeman resigned his position as VP/Director of Operations in May of this year. Mr. Freeman is represented by Jason Stuart of Ball & Stuart, PLLC. Mr. Stuart is available for comment.

Anything that keeps Steven Freeman out of any form of radio is a good thing. If you know him, you know I'm right.

u-j, you obviously don't know him well enough to spell his name right (stephen), even when it is spelled out for you just above. Why so bitter? What did he do to you? Doesn't really matter, he's probably not cazy about you either! Thank God for aliases, or some posters would actually have to grow a pair and confront others like real men.

I have never heard of Stephen Freeman, and neither has anyone else in this market that I have talked to for that matter. And I have been here for twenty-five years. I do know that Gordon Heiges has a golden reputation, and so do the rest of the people like Grant Merrill and Pat Lynch. You have a fairly good group of individuals here who have a lot of experience between them. I don't know that these internet stations will ever work, but this network concept will, and I can tell you from dealing with him when he was at Power, that ol' Gordo probably isn't going to let some nobody like this Freeman guy get the best of him. I mean where did this guy work in the past because I thought I knew everyone!

Mr. Freeman hired Grant Merrill and Pat Lynch to work for him. Mr. Heiges thought enough of Mr. Freemans companies, including the network, that he purchased them. I don't care how "golden" of a reputation you have, when you sign legal papers and agree under contract to pay for said business, then you have to pay for it. You can't just keep the operations without fully executing your end of the contract and not be held liable. Mr. Heiges has been successful at other places, virtually everywhere in Little Rock: Snyder, CDB Broadcasting, Citadel, Equity and Clear Channel, he has also had some very hard working and very good people beneath him to lift him up. That still doesn't answer the original question....

Who is Stephen Freeman? The only thing that I can gather is that he was a minimum wage part timer at KSSN from reading other posts on this site.

I know he worked for KMVK/KSSN for a few years when I was there, then he went out of the market to Chattanooga and did afternoons on WKXJ for a while, the last I heard before the internet stuff here in Little Rock, he was PD of three stations in Arizona. That's all I know!

Thank God for aliases, or some posters would actually have to grow a pair and confront others like real men.

I can only assume that would be like you or is yukonxl your given name?

Raceboy--as he was know when he interned at KSSN--has shown nothing but irresponsibility from that time on. I am a Program Director of a successful Arkansas radio station and I wouldn't hire him to work weekends.

Do tell of the irresponsibility. Since he owns successful companies outside of the radio business, he probably wouldn't want to work weekends. I could be wrong though. I heard thru a radio broker today that he, Freeman, was interested in buying a station in Benton a few weeks ago, and I know for a fact he has something to do with real estate?

Jay Madigan, and you?

After reading that Arkansas Business article, I can tell you that there are two sides to every story. That was three pages of nothing but this Freeman guy's side of the story. There has to be more to this than meets the eye.
