Fresh 102.7 Saturday Night 90s

Did they Drop the Saturday Night 90s? I was listening on Saturday Night and they were playing Regular Music. Thanks.

Great, just what we need- more of the same tired music on for more hours of the entire week.

Then again, I'm a 90's kid and I don't like a lot of music from the past 5 years.

This was one of the better programs on the station. What they really need to get rid of is Acoustic Sunrise/Sunset. It's basically bad MP3's of popular songs with the background stripped save one acoustic guitar. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz

I guess getting rid of Saturday Night 90's was one of Jim Ryan's first moves as PD. I personally enjoyed the show, being a 90's child, but it didn't really fit the format, and the average Fresh listener probably saw it as a trainwreck. You could hear them go from the Spice Girls to Nirvana to Celine Dion to Right Said Fred. Since this show was apparently the brainchild of Brian Thomas, perhaps it could find a new home on 101.1 HD2 ("Tony"), where it would fit with their anything-goes approach.

Other than that, I've noticed that Jim has given the jocks a little more breathing room. Not by all that much, mind you, but at least now they're talking up records instead of being confined to short music beds. I haven't noticed any real difference in the music mix though.

Hmm, turned on Fresh at 7:50p and heard Jason Darulo- "In My Head" and thought I had the wrong station on! That however was followed by Edwin McCain and then Pink. Both the Pink song and Jason Darulo sounded VERY uptempo and NOT a version that I would have typically heard on Fresh. In addition, I am hearing lots of listener "testimonials" about how much they love the fresh new sound.

If true, this is unfortunate, because I really liked Saturday Night '90s. I wonder how much longer the Acoustic shows will last on 102.7. Maybe they'll try to move it over to one of their HD2 channels, like "ToNY" on 101.1-HD2, for the half a dozen people actually listening to that. ::)

"Acoustic Sunrise" was originally a product of the old "101.1 Jack-FM." So for it to be handed off to "ToNY @ 101.1 HD2" - formerly "Jack-FM 101.1 HD2" - the feature would literally come full circle.

Hopefully, if this "new" Frsh fails, we can get a country, dance, or active rock station. Just gathering the chickens before I count and hatch 'em. :p
