FRESNO 2008 PREDICTIONS

1.) Market will get another Spanish station.
2.) E. Curtis will surface as PD again.
3.) Another Peak station will go semi-jockless (Mega?)
4.) KALZ or KRZR will flip formats to Spanish.
5.) KFRR will become the #1 rock station.
6.) KHGE will post some numbers.
7.) 1055 will throw in the Jazz towel for another format (Triple A)
8.) KSKS will become a liner jock, more music station.
9.) The Fox will play another Robert Palmer song.
10.) Either Clear Channel or Pacheco will flip an AM to News/Talk.
 
No way CC bothers to launch a news talker. Won't happen... heck they're dumping n/t staff salaries from coast to coast. Too expensive to make it competitive with KMJ - not to mention sales friendly. Not sure about another local owner stepping up though...it's possible...but I don't think there is enough product out there to draw a substantial audience. Who's going to be the star? Dr. Laura? Hah! Maybe Christian talk?

Personally, I would love to see a Christian Talk format in Fresno.

I bet CC would launch a news/talk station in Fresno. And the schedule would be almost all national shows:

6AM-9AM Glenn Beck
9AM-12PM Dennis Miller
12PM-3PM Dr. Laura
3PM-7PM Savage
7PM-10PM Mike McConnell

It seems possible, but not local.
 
Newstalk could be an option for CC, especially with the stick that KHGE is on. That could be a possibility, they have given the country station a good run, maybe it's time for change with the new year!
 
That would be like San Francisco getting one...with a 50% Hispanic and %15 African American population, that is really hard to do.
