Friday AM post......perplexing!

Wow.....First the WNEW calls to WPB on 106.3; now Michelle Visage in AM Drive on Sunny 104.3??

I'm all over the dial in the morning, but my ears piqued at this.

I've never had the chance to actually hear Michelle on air besides in rotation as a member of Seduction in the early, early '90s and a couple of airchecks and web blurbs, but she sounded great this morning with Rick Shockley.

Shockley sounded like he was enjoying the energy.

But she's BIG name, BIG market. Why West Palm??

But she sounded great. Hope she sticks around 701 Northpoint.

BTW, what was Seduction's biggest hit in 1990? MAJOR?

They had two hits.. their highest topping hit was "You're my One and Only True Love" their other hit was "Heartbeat". I liked their songs, being a freestyle fan.

What about "2 to make it right (it takes 2)”??

But it's wild; she was WNEW-102.7 NYC until they blew it up and went AC as Fresh to go against NYC's LITE FM. 'NEW calls come down to 106.3, and now she's at Sunny.

Both stations are CBS Radio......not trying to start trouble, but anyone smell a format flip somewhere?

COOL - I love hit music trivia questions. People try to stump me all the time, but it hardly ever works. ;)

Seduction were pretty big on the dance floor and at U.S. hit music radio in 1989 and 1990, and then they faded away. Their biggest hit was the # 2 gold smash from early on in 1990 "Two To Make It Right". They followed that up with the TOP 15 hits "Heartbeat" and "Could This Be Love".

BLAST, why the heck are all the stations that we need in miami are just out of our listening range 106.3 WNEW out of west palm has gone dance  :(

if it wasnt for that damed 50 thousand watt 106.3 spanish repeater out of ket largo they could probably reach here

Manny, 106.3 in WPB is NOT a Dance station, I assure you. All CBS did was park the legendary NYC calls at a station within the company. Kind of what CC did with the WSHE and WZTA calls. In case their programming "ideas" bomb, they still have the calls to do something with.

Think about 940 WINZ after the CC/Paxson buyout. WINZ became 940 FOX Sports as WRFX. Then Prog-talk as 940 WINZ, because they parked the calls at one of their Podunk stations.

The new (sorry for the pun) WNEW is still B106.3, a HOT105-esque station for the Palm Beaches whose calls used to be WJBW. See radio-locator.com for more.

And even if WNEW was dance, you ain't getting it listenable even past, what, Boca? Delray? It's a C3 licensed to Jupiter with WPB mostly citygraded. 106.3 Jupiter making it to MIAMI is out; when I was up at FAU Boca, unlistenable in the car.

Whoever wants to fill in the rest of the history of WJBW, please feel free. lol

WNEW's signal is horrible south of Lake Worth. Its stick is in Jupiter, and the station does relatively well all the way through Stuart. I live in the Boynton-Delray area, and the station is quite fuzzy, even on the car radio.

Ok, it gets Kevin Bacon-y here: Ted Brown did afternoons on the original WNEW(AM) in New York. A semi-retired Ted Brown does mornings around 1994-95 on WJBW (Jukebox) when it was on 99.5 Through some swapping, the WJBW calls go to 106.3 in West Palm. WJBW l06.3 acquires the WNEW call letters. Three degrees of seperation, sort of. Years ago the WRVR/NYC calls were shifted by their same owners to Memphis so they could not only change them to WKHK Country 106.7, but keep the jazz protesters from bringing back the WRVR calls if they succeeded in their legal challenges (they failed).

WNEW 106.3 is one of those rare South Florida FM stations that is not like the rest in terms of power. It's only broadcasting at a wee 19,000 watts. Meanwhile WZMQ 106.3 out of Key Largo is sending out 50,000 watts up to North Miami-Dade. Pretty soon they will relocate up the road into the northern end of Key Largo to share CALL-FM's transmitter. That will send their 50,000 watt signal up into southern Broward County.

If they do this, they would probably change their format.

michelle visage

i've been streaming since last week and michelle and rick do sound great together. i've listened to michelle for years on ktu then when she came back from cali and joined mix 102.7 she makes radio so much fun, she's valuable to any station she works at and what i really appreciate is that she's not lazy when it comes to her job (and y'all know that some jocks when they become successful start callin it in!). not michelle, though. girlfriend has energy, humor and she does her research about the gossip that's she's sharing with us. and if she makes a mistake about any of the info she'll let us know! ;D michelle is the real queen of the radio! 8)
