Friday Night Football On WAMS

Its so great to hear high school football on FM radio. Great call of the game from Anthony Joseph and Joh Bizby! ;D

So is this the LPFM simulcasts of 1600 in Dover, or is this 1590 and it's LPFM in OC Md. I'm having trouble keeping it straight as to which station is WAMS. The assumption is of course that the AM station is also carrying the game.

So now high school football is also going to FM? I guess since no one under the age of 50 listens to AM, they have to! (I'm 60 and still listen!)

Mike,

I guess you would have to say WHMZ 1600AM 98.3FM is doing high school football on Friday nights. But they call the whole network WAMS.

Jaydog,

Now for the big question. Did WHMZ Dover (1600AM/98.3FM) have plenty of local spots during the football game? I'm assuming the OC Md. part of the WAMS network continued to air their 80's music format.

From what I remember they were spots for Kent County. Stackhouse in the Dover mall was thier big sponcer, the Y, Wit Bros Market, and Vision Tech, just to name a few.

That's not a bad number of sponsors for high school games.

Good deal. It's great to hear about a local radio station being successful in something.

The games are produced by SFMSports.Net. I looked them up, and they broadcast high school and college football in MD and now DE. It looks like they also do Steven Decatur football in the OC area on WQMR. I heard the game Friday, and they have a pretty good amount of sponsors, and all sound local. It was pretty cool to hear high school sports on FM. I want to check out the website this weekend and hear their other games. Their schedule looks like they do three or four games Friday nights, plus some college stuff too.
