Friends of MVYRadio buys WMEX

Officially announced today, the deal aims to return the former WMVY to the Martha’s Vineyard airwaves by next spring. The price tag is $450,000, and there may be an attempt to move the station's tower to Tisbury.

For more details, see http://mvgazette.com/news/2013/11/07/wmvy-acquires-station-will-return-fm-dial, http://marthasvineyard.patch.com/gr...announces-return-to-marthas-vineyard-airwaves, http://radioinsight.com/blog/headlines/86611/wmvy-to-return-to-marthas-vineyard, and http://www.allaccess.com/net-news/a...to-return-to-the-airwaves-in-martha-s-vineyar.

I find it interesting what Vineyard Public Radio Inc. was originally planning for 88.7 WMEX. David Jackson, the director of Vineyard Public Radio Inc. had planned to debut a Big Band and American standards station if the sale didn't go through.

I couple of days ago Cape Cod Times did an article on Mvyradio returning to the FM dial.
