I noticed that Froggy 102.7 in Elkhart dropped the Alan Kabel show at night and is now running local.. any word on why?...

I enjoyed Alan's program, but he did tend to get annoying.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that his syndicator dropped him because it wasn't getting enough affiliates, but I don't know if that was both of his programs or just the mainstream AC one.

That makes more sense than the reason I heard; that it had to do with the cost of the show.

94.9 The Coast out of St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, MI was carrying his program at night, the last I knew. The signal just barely reaches beyond Berrien County in my car, is he still on the air there?

I was very glad to hear that Kabel is gone. He got too flirty with women (almost border-line Sexual Harassment) and not the style of Froggy. I really liked the local aspect and now I am glad to hear it again. Good move WLEG!
Also, I noticed old Charley Butcher's voice. How long will he do the mid-day show?

Alan Kabel "went away" for a combination of reasons. Network radio is sold based on AQH - Night time AQH for Hot AC's is historically low. That AND all the Hot ACs, etc. flipping to Jack stations was hurting Hot AC even moreso. Less potential affiliates, and lower spot rates (due to lower AQH) are what have created the demise of Alan's show... I'm sure he'll end up somewhere else.

And for the guy who said he was "border line sexual harassment" - I hate to say it, but this is why Alan has moved up and had a successful career. He KNOWS female radio. I'm NOT stating this as fact, but maybe you haven't worked in female-targeted radio as a jock... but it wins all the time. I've worked female-targeted radio in the Night day part and I can tell you those women you "flirt with" (whether meaning it or not) are the ones who stick around... Read a little more about "what women want" and some research on the behavior of women in general... Alan is a true radio talent who knows his audience.
