Froggy 107.1/104.9

Well the saga continues...

A station which is simulcast on two frequencies throughout the Capital Region/North Country had some really impressive numbers in the latest trend...(NOTE: SARCASM)

What mastermind strategy could the folks at Pamal have in mind for the 104.9 frequency now that the 105.7 deal looks like it has fallen through the cracks?

I don't want to hear that they will continue the simulcast...They would be crazy to do that. First off, WFFG/WZMR COMBINED beat out WCKM by a small margin in this latest trend...and the first Fall book trend was even closer. Shouldn't a station with such a wide coverage area be able to produce more?

Second off, with the way Froggy sounds right now there is no place for it in the Albany market...no matter how bad this market is in the first place. Horrible jocks...very stale imaging (has ANY of it been updated since the last PD left???)...and more jock turnovers then what Brooks Bollinger threw for the Jets this season. Has anyone listened to this station lately?? Makes WCKM-WKBE-AND WENU sound major market.

Anyone else have their thoughts? Go ahead and bash me on mine if you want...I used to be a loyal follower of this station until it went down the drain. Very Disappointing.

How would someone from the Poughkeepsie market have any clue as to what was going on in Glens Falls? For what the station has to work with I think they sound pretty good! Do they belong in Albany? Not yet, not until they hire live bodies to actually do live air shifts. If you actually listen most of their calls (When they are live) are from Saratoga south, just because the book doesn't show it doesn't mean people are not listening.

The saga will end soon, hopefully...

I TOLD you it wouldn't succeed!

I think Pamal should move Rhythmic Top 40 from WAJZ to WZMR ("Z-104.9 FM: Jammin' Hits") and put WAJZ back where it belongs--Urban!

What do you mean, WIDE COVERAGE AREA? Everyone thinks that 104.9 has a third-rate signal!

I have to agree with you. to me WAJZ is supposed to be like Hot 97 in NYC Hip Hop & R&B. Now if Pamal did decide to change 104.9 to Rhythmic top 40 format would it be like WKTU in nyc a dance station? As far as i know KTU is rhythmic top 40 and has been since 1996. Albany does need a dance station going from 70s disco to dance stuff now added to the FM dial. we have way too many rock stations on the dial, plus 2 top 40 one's. I know this is not NYC's Market but still they need to lighten up the FM dial here in albany. I'm pretty sure a dance format like KTU's would do alright here.

Here's a silly question. With the 105.7 deal falling through the cracks, does that mean that the 105.5 Vox signal will now stay in Pittsfield, ma???? The reason Vox was moving 105.5 to the Springfield market in the first place was to make way for 105.7.

The one reason the Vox gang are moving both $ignals clo$er to marketable places is ...

I love it! "just because the book doesn't show it doesn't mean people are not listening.". If that were the case wouldn't Arbitron be obsolete? I believe they call that the Ostrich theory. Stick your head in the sand and hope for the best! You must be a New School graduate. Listetn, I know that Arbitron is not perfect, but it is a fairly accurate measure of listening tendencies. Sure some people may be listening to Froggy, perhaps even a few cows, but don't assume that because you hear calls on the air that they have a strong listener base. Calls can be faked in order to appear relevant to the landscape.

Z-104.9--less Hot 97, more 'KTU!

YES! 'KTU is a REAL Rhythmic Top 40. Hot 97 is NOT!
