Froggy is "Moving"

1) Sell it to Sheridan and WAMO goes there, serving their core audience just as well, if not better than the suburban 106.7 signal (which comes in great in New Castle and Youngstown).

2) Keymarket puts on an urban or a CHR.

3) What I actually think will happen...K-love Christian format.

#3 is a real possibility. They've sold several sticks to EMF. And right now, the Christians are the only ones basing the price they'll pay on something other than cash flow--a formula projectiing donations based on the number of humans covered (seriously). Halleluja, and please pass the plate!

But wasn't there a plan to move their 98.1 Altoona stick further east to make room for a 98.3 upgrade to a B or B-1? Whatever happened to that? Did the commish shoot it down?

I wasn't sure, so I checked out their website and learned two interesting things....

1) It appears that they are live all week M-F (not sure about the weekends).

2) "David Hopperfield", the midday jock, is Dave Anthony Budjanec, who was my PD at WEEP (not to be confused with Dave Anthony Labrozzi, former 3WS PD). Or if it's not him he's a dead ringer, but I recall Dave being from Ambridge.....

They'd have to move 98.1 pretty far east for that to happen, since 98.1 in Altoona's a Class C. They'd probably have to move it to Huntington, which would devalue an Altoona-licensed stick.

Seems like 98.3 is going to be K-Love. Guess that comes off my presets . Of course having the same programming on 4 sticks may not be the best use of airwaves, but with 98.3 going Christian and WAMO appearantly doing the same, visting Pittsburgh will be like just staying home in Dixie. Add 101.5 to this stew and hot dawg (!)---------- jest like being in Floriduh! Expect to see gator tails at Primanti's restaurants. YAHOO! I always thought it was cool that Da Burg only had WPIT 730 and WORD which was cool. Guess Pittsburgh's days as the Athen's of American is winding down. Chuck me in the bayoo and let the gators get me.

Guess the Allegheny River will be the Allegheny Bayou and Heinz Field will be Katherine Kuhlmann Memorial Statium. CMU will be bought by Liberty Baptist and beards and hair below the collar will be banned on campus. Plus you add the fact that although WDUQ plays great jazz, they are faith based and screen their public service announcements so as not to violate the core doctrines. You better tie Pittsburgh to the docks or it will slip down the Blue Ridge mountains and wind up in Tennessee . That would make WNOX 990 the local heritage rocker of all time. We can talk about Ravin Dave rockin the Smokies! Guess I can get nostalgic bout the revival tent shows at Forbes and Murray at the old Gulf Station.

The news about 98.3 being sold to EMF/K-Love was official as of late Friday. K-Love is a contemporary Christian music format, much like WORD-FM on weekends. That's a different listening choice than paid religious programming (says the guy who is well acquainted with paid programming).

And it will actually get some ratings in all likelihood. In Orlando, a similar Christian music format is the #2 station in the market (you can't see it now in the published ratings because it's a non-commercial, but under PPM it will be published).

Considering that WORD-FM's weekend CCM has pulled ratings, yes, I think it's likely that 98.3 will also get some ratings. The big distinction is that they won't be competing for ratings.

I think it's great that Pittsburgh is actually going to have a full time Christian music station, but it sucks that it's that one. But I guess that's what we get lol some national station that is broadcast from God knows where and repeated on 600,000 low powered radio stations in America and now a full powered one. lol

Wholly Moses or "Holy Moses",
Just was looking at their site and list of stationsl Here is just the locals;
Johnstown (WLKJ) 105.7
Monroeville 97.5
NW Pittsburgh 99.3
Pittsburgh 105.5
SE Pittsburgh 94.1
Uniontown 106.3

And now 98.3.

I never really studied EMF and of course K-Love wasn't even around when I was in the biz. Do these folks actually buy the stations or run off of LMAs? I know Forever had stations in J-Town & State College and up pops K-Love on them a while back, now over here too.

EMF just buy the stations. ironically, some of them used to be home to stations that were at one point successful, like WHTS/Quad Cities.

Watch the opening montage on HBO's True Blood and you see Pittsburgh in a few years.

So my question is, where is the advertised 50,000 watts coming from? Is the 104.3 stick going to be upgraded from 13,000 watts, or???
