Don't let this be a rumor mill thing. The PD/MD is just desiring to beef up their Friday and Saturday dance show called Q'd up and possibly add a track or two to the regular rotation. It is good news if some dance reaches the regular rotation over the airwaves and it might make Q-96 a dance-friendly station again but it is NOT going all dance hits. They're the only true CHR in town. I think they are positioning themselves between the hip-hop station (Hot 105.5) and the Adult CHR/Hot AC station (Mix 94.5). They sound very good and with some tweaks, it'll get even better. Champaign-Urbana has a great radio dial. Come visit!

That's more or less what I gathered, that it was to support something mixshow related. Sounds like they're actually playing some real dance and not the same old hiphop stuff for their mixes, at least? :)

Q-96 has about three rhythmic specials on air.

#1 - Every lunch hour is a "Lunch Hour Re-wind" - 90's old school dance and hip-hop -- great stuff!!!

#2 - Every day at 5pm there's the "5 o'clock Mixdown" - about a 30 minute mix, usually hip-hop, pop remixed oriented. I haven't heard dance at 5pm but I rarely get to hear it.

#3 - Friday and Saturday night from 9pm - ??? "Q'd Up" - all dance music, very little to no hip-hop (remixes only) and some mixes here and there. It basically sounds like a dance hits radio station on Friday and Saturday nights.

That's what we get to hear around here.
