Where In The World Is WKHXAtlanta Morning Man, Craig Cornett?

Craig Cornett started as morning man at WKHX ("KICKS101-5")/Atlanta on November 1st, but has been off the air for over a month, now...allegedly caring for his ill father back in St. Louis.

However, despite stories in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and lots of speculation, rumor, and innuendo...there is no new news on the missing morning man. Cornett was unceremoniously dumped from KSD-FM("THE BULL")/St. Louis last year, and was replaced by the syndicated "Big D & Bubba" Country morning show.

This is all particularly bizarre, and ill-timed, because as you know, the all-important Spring Arbitron ratings survey began on Thursday, March 30th, more than two weeks ago.

However, sources say that this is all an especially big embarrassment to WKHX/WYAY President & General Manger, Victor Sansone. Unless an air talent "knuckles under," and follows his orders...there's trouble. Ask former WKHX morning man, Moby...whose contract was not renewed by Sansone (fired) two years back. Then, Moby's replacement, "Bamdy & Bailey" lasted only two years...and their comtracts were not renewed, either...after being hooranged all that time.

So, what's done is done, but those sources say, that now is all about "spin," to listeners, advertisers, and to the Country Music Community in Nashville. You see, Sansone is the current Chairman Of The Board Of Directors of The Country Music Association (CMA). To make matters even worse for him, ABC Radio was sold in February to Citadel Broadcasting Corporation, which is really majority-owned by investment firm Forstmann Little & Co The Federal Trade Commision (FTC)even gave their blessing to the $2.7 Billion sale just last week. Investment firms, and Wall Street hate "snags" like this Cornett flap.

Listening to WKHX this morning, there is NO mention of Cornett on air, nor does his supposed "fill in" host say her name, either(Kristen Gates). Word is that afternoon jock, "Cadillac" Jack is being pressured to change shifts, but he is happy in his present time slot, and won't go to mornings unless he gets a VERY significant raise in already great paychek. By the way, there is a Progam Director at the station, Mark Richards..but he has learned to lay low, and simply wait for Sansone, 58 to retire. His 10 year anniversary back at WKHX is coming up on November 1st. He has been with Capitol Cities, then ABC for a long, long time.

Look for this to be settled quietly...under the radar. BUT: settled it must be...SOON, because the wheels are coming off the bus!

If you have any more credible info, click here: VENT, and tell AllAboutCountry what YOU know!

WOW...another post from a former talent that didnt make it in Atlanta. has to be, anyone else knows that this guys father is dying. Lots of questions on his return, but its clear his family has been under stress in a new town and not very happy here. He didnt get off to a great start.

Lots of air talent work there happily. Most posts like this are obviously from someone who is a former employe. Kicks GM dosnt run programming. Since you know so much, why dont you just call the people you know there and ask them.

Not that I care, I don't listen to Kicks in the morning anyway, but unless the guy who posted this is the same person who wrote the story on www.allaboutcountry.com, you are way off base. There is actually an article on that site about Cornett, just as is staed in the post.
