From Boston......106.3 possible flip to country.....huh??????

Not that I think either Providence or Boston can support two Country stations, but 106.3 would make a decent choice for such a signal. Its strength is in northern Providence County, probably the part of the market that would be most supportive of a Country signal.

maybe the 106.3 is meant from here if you read closely it says the owners are country friendly, umm hello cumulus ahh nashfm?? anyone??

98.1 has a pretty solid signal throughout South County, and the farther west you go, if 98.1 loses signal, then 97.7 WCTY is there.

Northwest RI, northeast CT and parts of Worcester County would benefit from a country signal. 98.9 perhaps?

N.W. R.I., N.E. Ct. & the Worcester area have country on 940. As for 106.3, I can't see it going country because that would leave Providence without a Rhythmic & would leave PRO-FM open to get flanked.

Providence would nt be without a Rythmic long. I would think CC would JUMP on the format in a heartbeat and flip 93.3 or 101.5.I would lean towards 101.5

Boston is talking about a rumor about a Cumulus and Entercom Trade.Just speculation. No proof of anything something about Cumulus acquiring WEEI in the mix. Again just talk.Could Cumulus grab 103.7 move WPRO's 99.7 simulcast to 103.7.Spin off 99.7. OR......Move Hot to 103.7 and spin off 106.3.But the rumur they are talking about is Country on specifically 106.3 near Boston.
Could this happen......
Cumulus acquires 103.7 Somehow Entercom acquires 790 am and 106.3.Could Cumulus LMA 106.3 for NASH country.Move Hots music to 103.7 and whatecer happens happen on 790?...
Again this all talk no proof of anything.

I think Worcester would be a prime location for a local country signal, and 98.9 would be the most logical candidate. However, there's one little sniggly issue. Most of the big country concerts come into Worcester instead of Boston....and WKLB (for Boston) and WCTK (for Providence) are the two stations fighting for the "presents" for those shows. The little Worcester station would be out-promoted in it's own city by two huge out of market signals. It would be difficult for such a station to find some traction. Sure, they'd get some local ratings, but it would be difficult to generate NTR (non-traditional revenue, like concerts, remotes, etc).

There are clues that 106.3 in Nashua, NH may be flipping country. It's rumored that a morning show that starts tomorrow is syndicated on other former Nassau/now Binnie owned country stations in northern New England. Just speculation, but we'll see what happens.

Last I heard, the station was Variety Hits. I think they are branded as "Frank FM."

Just rock style classic hits like WROR, not Variety Hits. The only Frank that is/was Variety Hits is the one on Cape Cod.

Are they still branded as "Frank"?

Yes, 106.3 in Nashua, 99.1 in Concord, 107.5 in Portland, 105.5 in Mid Coast Maine, and 107.1 in Barre, VT are all Frank FM, and are rock style classic hits. They all used the same playlist under Nassau, and may still under Binnie ownership. 101.1/93.5 on the Cape, and now just 93.5 is variety hits, though its mostly newer Hot AC type stuff now that it's owned by CodComm (Garabedian).

Thanks for the info, jlehmann. I never make it to Northern New England, but I imagine that there is some signal overlap among the "Franks." Portland's Frank has a monster signal, and must have some limited coverage in part of Nashua's Frank's listening area.

Affirmative.....106.3 Nashua get to about Portsmouth (as you head north to Maine, 106.3 Scarborough the Bone begins to take over). 107.5 Portland is good in Portmsouth and west most of the way to Manchester. Sometimes I can hear the same tunes on 99.1/106.3/107.5 (the 3 Franks) but out of sync. At this point, I think 99.1 Henniker and 106.3 Nashua should simply go full blown simulcast...
