raccoonradio is right--that place is not dead and i'm not even a local yokal, but i was at a hosue party with all sorts of press folks over the weekend and everyone said this guy jason has a plan, for women (again, i say, note the news/talk duo he put on weekends) for different kind of programming (scotto in he morning failed because of scotto--show could fly) i'm betting he does big things--these people seem to think mary blake and other legends wil come back, they might drop rush, drop everyone but howie and introduce all-local lineup with people (not from rhode island) with lots of local knowledge. they are sneaking in a lot of talent on weekends and nights--that guy greg was good and i disagree with eveerything he says! you watch, they aren't going to screw it up, too much on line. and lets' face it TKK--are you JOKING? they make RKO look like all stars. Sleepytime radio.

that's Not the Point--they don't 'support' gms--or station managers--they report on tehm and they talk to people they work with and for and they decide three things--whether he's got good instincts, whether he can rally talent, and whether he can force change upon institutions that is good for listeners and the station

take it from me, plenty ofpeople in boston media think he could pull this off, it's not rocket scientist stuff--and it's time for a change there anyhow. you have some agenda, you sound like his jilted lover.

Having worked in the "media biz" for close to 40 years, I can assure you that he knows exactly what he's talking about. It's you who knows "zilch" about it.

and WRKO is pushing the woman who blitzed negative ads, it is hardly what the listeners want.

Listeners tune out. They go to BUR or BZ. You know, had DePetro played his cards right,
he could've survived another quarter or two. Instead of attacking Grace Ross and Mihos,
he should have had them co-host - a roundtable with the two of them the last two weeks
of the election. That would've forced Healey and Patrick onto his show for equal time,
they couldn't just ignore all that free publicity for Ross and Mihos.

Instead he got axed.

I said it before, it was the ratings, not the comment. The comment just gave WRKO an opportunity.

There's 9/11, Bush goes after Saddam. DePetro was on thin ice and fell through.

The News team is a different situation. Talented people but poor ratings by bad hosts meant the news people had to walk the plank.

Im with Valvuren, not Panago ----and frankly I'm also out of here. I don't enjoy this board because of the refusal to discuss facts..i say media reporters, and journalists, like emily rooney don't support or campaign against Jason, instead they 'report' on people and issues---and that several people i've talked to here in town, who either work for media outlets or 'report on't he media say that JW could pull off an all-star lineup since he knows what LISTENERS not RADIO BLOG INSIDERS actually LIKE.........and I'm told that's a bunch of crap wihtout any critical argument....so what...the globe and herald's profiles of wolf--a bit rosy maybe--those are evidence of what? certainly NOT panago's theory that everyone in the press thinks jason doesn't get it. it's just dead wrong. it's not backed up by any theory and if it's damned easy to get a radio show on rko,a s panago says, then he ought to just go get one-------------wait a second, maybe he has already tried that? Now THAT would make sense.
Anyone who uses this blog who has an axe to grind, or was axed themselves at one point, should get their own blog. Until then, I'm out of here. There's too may good national radio blogs to get bogged -- or blogged -- down in this stuff.

No, it's hardly what YOU want...and again, you reveal your ignorance of how talk radio works. It's not entertaining, provocative or compelling to listen to when you preach to the choir. It's no stretch to figure out why all the right-wing talk show hosts have started to show ratings erosion over the past six years. With their people in power across the board, they have had less to rail against than ever before, and blaming a president who left the WH six years ago for everything that's wrong now doesn't cut it anymore. With a Democratic-controlled Congress coming in in January, their ratings will go back up. Assuming that just because this is a Democratic state the listeners want to hear Democratic talk show hosts pushing Democratic candidates is contrary to the facts and all evidence from the past. And, as we have beaten to death on this board and elsewhere, no radio station is going to influence any election anywhere. They simply don't have enough of an audience to make a difference.
