From Humble, TX - New AM log, TruTV on 87.75?

The other day I traveled to Humble, TX, and managed to do a bit of DXing in the hotel with my Tecsun PL-380. On AM I focused on 1350 since I was away from KCOR, a local 5 kW station that’s 3 miles from my house (and shows up in various places across the bands on some of my radios). In addition to catching WWWL in NOLA, I logged a new station, XEZD, La Incondicional, in Ciudad Camargo, TM, Mexico, which plays romantic Mexican pop.

The next morning there was decent tropo, and I caught some FM stations from San Antonio (94.1 KTFM and 96.1 KMMX) as well as Louisiana (96.1 KYKZ). I also got audio from a TruTV station on 87.75. It was running informercials followed by World’s Dumbest Criminals. The signal was weak but fairly steady.

There are no Franken-FMs in the Houston area, and I thought that all U.S. analog stations were off the air. Any clues as to what this could be? A Mexico analog TV station?

Your 87.7 may have come from a fitness club/gym. I have seen places like 24 Hour Fitness utilize open FM frequencies for the TV audio while people are working out.
