From 'Just Right Radio' to 'Oldies done just right'

Raleigh's AM 850 is, as of September 1, again known as WKIX; it's former WPTK call letters and soft oldies/standards 'Just Right Radio' format both cast aside in favor of 60s-70s oldies as 'Oldies 104.7' - no on-air reference to the AM save for the top-of-hour ID, but using translator W284CP's dial position.

This is the third tour of duty for the WKIX call letters on 850, as they were there from 1959-1994 and 2010-2012. Kix 102.9 will add the '-FM' suffix again.

This is a shame. I keep forgetting this station is there, and now it's not.

On the other hand, I'm glad the letters are back.

They don't have to. It's not the first time they've been WKIX-FM when there was a WKIX-AM.
