From K-Hits to The Eagle...

I just don't get it when Cox changed the station's calls from KHTC to KGLK. They should have left it alone to begin with. With Dean & Rodge coming on board from The Arrow, I was thinking if this station might go Active Rock, or They should still keep the Classic Hits format as it is for now. I believe they should name it 107-5 The Eagle. We shall see Moday...

Yep. That would be followed by songs that has the word "Eagle" to it."Like Fly like an Eagle", or any song by its own members of the band-Like Glenn Frey, Don Henley, or Even Joe Walsh.

Hmmm...the Eagles Drop Weekend is brought to you by John Eagle Honda. too.

I smell an Eagle.

I smell an Eagle! I smell an Eagle! I smell an Eagle! I smell an Eagle! I smell an Eagle! I smell an Eagle!

Let Me Think... I'm guessing they'll be playing all of the songs by The Eagles, including solo works by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, & Joe Walsh. Plus other songs with the word "eagle" in their titles-like "Fly Like an Eagle"...

Cox has their formulas for formats. That includes station monikers. Dean & Rog signal a change in their strategy by adding a proven, market tenured, successful morning show. Apparently, they believe a change in name will showcase the station's changes more successfully and send a signal to the old D&R fans that they should make the switch. You can bet there will be the typical Cox media marketing blitz as well. After 10 AM, with the exception of the name and moderate tweaks, there will most likely be no major differences from K-Hits. We'll see.

From K-His to The Eagle...

The Eagle has FINALLY landed in Houston!

4:55a Last Song played on K-Hits-Running on Empty by Jackson Browne
5:00a First Song played on The Eagle-Life In The Fast Lane by The Eagles

Everything else still remains the same. Same Classic Hits, Same PA Voice (Doug Paul).

I was hoping for something more than the same old same... How about some healthy counter-programming? If they're in direct competition with the Arrow, then let's see something more than just swapping songs back and forth! Boring and unoriginal... Typical Houston radio.

At least D&R will give me a break from W&J...

Have you bothered to listen to the station? They have the better morning show, they're playing fewer commercials than Arrow, and the music is a lot different than it was just a day ago. Sounds like healthy counter-programming to me!

Listened all morning and not really impressed. I'll keep listening for a while and hope that my first impression is wrong.

same here. music choices are odd....Corey Hart, Eurythmics with Eagles, ZZ Top, Aerosmith.
pushing the fewer commercial angle that 93Q did against KILT. is this the typical Cox formula for radio wars?

How much longer for the Point-less???
I've been more impressed with 1037's new direction for AAA. to bad the signal suffers but I get it in the car and at home.

Yeah, just another cloned garbage format.....also good for D & R to be back on the radio. I personally don't care for them, I like W & J (without the music). And just out of curiousity why do people bash W&J for their staleness (and yes its true to some degree, i am a realist) but what is SOOO fresh about a "Birthday Scam" ? We all know that has never been done before ::)

Listening today it just basically the Arrow with some of The Point thrown in for whatever reason... Heard Whitesnake. I think only the Point are the only ones who played them before. No surprises really. I don't think there was one song I heard that isn't played on either of those stations. I guess its ok if you only listen to both of those. You are set for life now.

As Chris Farley would've said "Woop de freakin' doo!" Less commercials is the best gimmick you could come up with? Come on...

I think the rest of the Arrow's listeners can now safely move down the dial to the Eagle. CC will pull the plug on the Arrow in 6 months, plus I predict that Cox will flip the Point to something different in the near future as 107.5 takes more of its playlist.

I totally agree that this might be the long-awaited (and long-needed) death knell for The Point. If only the playlist had expanded beyond 30 songs oh, six years ago, this might not be the case.

I would not look for the Arrow to go away anytime soon. The billing that Clear Channel makes from the station is extremely large. And word out of the CC building is that after 2 days of Eagle being on the air, they are not worried at all about 1075.

CC will spend money on marketing and promotion to ensure that that the Arrow does not lose ratings. 93.7 has actually been doing very well in the latest trends.
