From Miami, Florida...Introducing "DJ106.7" (WRMA)

I tuned in.. heard Pitbull & Sensato rap over Bingo Players "Rattle," shut off the station, and got depressed. Not the right direction at all. :-[

Thats not the only thing that WRMA is doing... They're billing themselves as "Miami's New #1 Party Station." Which is ironic, given that WPOW is now billing themselves as "Miami's Party Station" and WFEZ-HD2's monicker is "Party 93.1-HD2." One gets the felling that the Miami FM airwaves is getting "Party"-ied out. Lawsuits, anyone?

I tuned in as well.

I gotta say it, as a Latino (and I'll use New York City as the example) if I wanted to hear current based Latin music I would tune in to either La Mega or X96.3 where it is fully dedicated. If I wanted dance, and I do know their limitations and can accept that, I would listen to 92.3 Now.

It was mentioned on the New York board that WPAT (93.1) may go this route as well. Honestly, if it's the same commercial material that can be heard on other stations mixed in with Latin material that can be heard on other stations, then why would I want to care about this? In that sense, I can understand your frustration Anthony. :(

DJ 106.7 targets American born Latinos that are 18-34 primarily who prefer hearing Hip Hop,Rhythmic mixed in with the current "Urbano" sounds whether is Bachata or Reggaetón or just Latin Rap. The format can adjust according to the music cycles. The presentation will be mostly in English. I think this will Give Power 96 some competition. The only dance this station plays is whatever has been recycled and proven to be a hit on the pop charts. But this station was never intended to be for the EDM audience.

I'm thinking when this type of station comes to New York and yes, it's like I had said...'KTU meets La Mega. That's why I'm taking this with a sort of melancholy.

Anthony:

Perhaps Tony Santiago and all on here can help DJ106.7 choose an honest direction to put the station.

If it is a dance direction, it should input real dance, disco, latin freestyle (this one's for you Tony Santiago :) ), trance, and pop mixes ALA WKTU 1996 WITHOUT THE URBAN!

Open for discussion :)

It's not even worth trying. They are a Churban outlet catering towards Latinos and mixing it up with English and Spanish tracks. That's what the station is. You can KINDA hear that now with WPAT (93.1) in New York. Just a matter of time before the format is full blown. But as far as deeper tastes are concerned, I don't see it happening. It's basically KTU meeting La Mega ox X96.3)
